our 1 year old beagle got mysteriously ill. he had almost every test (as recommended by the vet) to uncover his 3 day stretch of no water, food, strange behavior, bloody diareah, and constant shaking...just writing this makes me sad again. no one could get to the bottom of it, and the costs kept creeping up. he remained off for another couple of weeks, and unfortunately we still don't know what was wrong with him as the vet's kept giving hima clean bill of health?? it was a most terrible time for us to watch him suffer. healthy paws actually called to see how he was doing through out that period, how awesome is that! they covered everything, and sent us reimbursement, fast! we didn't even expect them to cover as much as they did. wow, i need to come back as a dog!

We've only ever had two pet insurance plans, the first one for over 10 years with our beloved pooch who passed in 2009. Then we adopted a rescue in 2010 and I started researching insurances like crazy trying to find the best fit...I initially chose Healthy Paws because of their believe and backing with rescues, but now after filing two claims I've realized how absolutely amazing they are and will never look for another insurance again. You know how you wait around to see if your insurance company has even gotten your claim? Well, Healthy Paws replies within 48 hours that they have received it and that it's in process. Then another 1-5 days later you receive a very nice email with a PDF of the breakdown of how they are handling the situation. So, stop looking and comparing...the bus stops right at Healthy Paws and you won't need a return bus ride anywhere!

If you love your pet, get them the best insurance available. These guys are wonderful. No hassles, no hidden gimicks, AMAZING customer service--such a relief after my last experience with a horrible pet insurance company. They even offered me a discount because I am adopting a rescue puppy and adding him to my dog's insurance. I feel a lot of gratitude that this company exists and I am happy to support them by giving them my business. I recommend them to all my animal loving friends--and I warn my friends about my experience with this other company--do your homework and you will see--this is the insurance you want. I have a 5 month old female Havanese and I purchased pet insurance for her on 4/9/2011. I figured I should get it while she is a puppy and completely healthy to avoid not having the chance to purchase it when she may need it later in life. Well, she ended up needing to be hospitalized less than a month after the policy was purchased. After some blood work, medications, and an overnight stay she was feeling much better. Since we had the insurance we didn't hesitate to take our little girl to the Vet. We knew we had some protection to offset the upcoming costs. It gives you peace of mind. PROS: They have an ANNUAL Deductible not a per incident deductible like many of the other larger pet insurance companies. If I get pet insurance, I don't want to be stuck having to pay $100 or $200 per incident...I want to have it taken care of the first time something happens for the year. They PAY based on ACTUAL COSTS...not some table(Huge difference...ask other companies how they pay out) The PRICE for the policy is very REASONABLY priced for the amount of coverage. (I chose $100 deductible and 90% copay) Had CLAIM CHECK in hand in THREE Days. Amazing speed. I made sure to follow their instructions and had the vet clinic fax up her medical records, since it was her first claim, and I then faxed the completed claim form as soon as I returned from the vet hospital. As I mentioned earlier....claims process was so easy and quick. CONS: Lifetime maximum of $2

I am so glad we have Healthy Paws Insurance for our dog. When Cooper mysteriously started vomiting we had to make an emergency trip to the animal hospital. It was comforting to know that we didn't have to turn down any diagnostic tests. He had stays, barium tests, blood tests and had to stay over night. The claim form could not have been easier to fill out. All I had to o was print out Cooper's custom form, get a vet signature and attach a receipt. That's it! I had a check within a week. So easy!
