Fetch | Pet Insurance Review

Fetch has been a life saver! We have a wonderful little dachsund - she was a rescue puppy so we weren't aware of her family history. I got insurance for her because I learned that wieners have a proclivity for back disease. At almost 3 yrs old, she suffered an episode and starting walking funny. We rushed her to the ER immediately. She received phenomenal care and never became paralyzed, and thank goodness for Fetch! Having a pup with back disease is beyond stressful and knowing I had pet insurance allowed me to focus on taking care of our girl. Fetch was quick and easy and reimbursed me! THANK YOU FETCH!

Received response from Fetch which did not change anything - they just provided basically a generic auto-reply. Response basically equates to: New Underwriter (Axis) + Age of 12 Yr Healthy Cat (no claims ever) + my state = a 44.5% Rate Increase. That is almost a 45% rate hike for using a new underwriting company and my cat's age as an excuse for an exorbitant rate increase. Its just really unethical and wrong since this why pet owners purchase insurance in the first place and for a long-term period. Previous Review: I used to think this was the best insurance plan (formerly Petplan) for my Cat. My now senior cat has thankfully been in good health and has regular check-ups every 6 months. I have never submitted any claims in 5 years. They raised my premium by $20 a month as i moved to a new zip code. Now it seems they are changing their underwriting company to Axis Insurance. In honor of this event, I just received my upcoming renewal rate and they are raising my premium by 44.5% with an increase of $39 a month! Seriously, my indoor 12 yr old healthy cat's ins. with no claims in 5 years will now be $133 a month!!! $1,579 per year. Outrageous!! Just Pure Greed. Costs more than my car ins. I can only imagine the unaffordable rates they will charge for pets that have made claims for or have ongoing health conditions considering I presently have a healthy pet and they think I will be price scalped. I'm going somewhere else like Pumpkin Insurance - so many others. Way less than Fetch by the Dodo (silly name too for ins. plan). Shame on them for what they are doing to pet owners just trying to keep their pets safe and healthy in order to line their deep bottomless pockets. The primary goal is apparent -- Profits for them and not peace of mind for the sake of our pets.
