Horrible service and denial of coverage
I write this review one day after leaving a positive review for Alicia. I have been a customer since 2020 and submitted my first claim ever within the last week for my dog. Vet records going back to 2020 place a "note" on his chart 2 days before his waiting period ended that now led to a denial of the claim. Had I not sent the records from 2020 (which I barely remembered existed), would the claim have been approved in its absence? 2020 was a crazy time period for people and I got my dog in to see the vet when I could. To now see that for my first claim (mind you it's >$1,000) it is denied, it all feels very nitpicky for a time period where rules sort of went out the window with a focus on health and wellbeing. But not for Fetch. To me, this is not why I pay for Fetch and ultimately is the reason I just ended my policy. Also, rate increases have been unruly and to pay for another year of coverage when things would likely be noted as "preexisting" anyways, I might as well pay for the work my dog needs out of pocket and then he will have a clean bill of health with respect to that part of his body and another insurance company will not mark it as a preexisting condition like Fetch did. Such a shame and unkind business practice. (This was for mid-January 2025).
To reply to the response from Fetch, one of my main frustrations is that I provided additional medical records after you all requested them. These records were from early 2020, and while on the phone with your representative, she told me clearly that many customers did not have records from that timeframe because of Covid and that it was acceptable if those records were unavailable. Rather than be lazy, I found the records and sent them to you all and they ended up aligning with the waiting period. If I had, like other customers likely did, provided no records for the Covid timeframe in 2020, it sounds like my claim would not have had standing to be denied. That’s my frustration. I went above and beyond to care for my pet, during a health crisis, and to provide those records to you all, and that’s now the basis for the denial.
