Shady "claims surcharge" introduction
We have been with Fetch for both of our dogs for 3 (younger) or 4 (older) years. The premiums have been ticking up annually, but usually manageably. In 2023, they decided to introduce something they have called a "claims surcharge" - essentially a penalty for having used your insurance. It took months of talking to tens of customer service people to figure it out, but we ultimately found out that there are 10%, 20% and 30% penalty tiers based on how many years you have been reimbursed over $250 for. We were in the 20% camp. With a 6 year old dog, 20% of our premium in surcharge is A LOT of money - more money than we were willing to pay on top of the already-sizeable annual premium increase. We were also told that it would take 3 years of claims under $250 to be reduced to the 10% penalty camp. This whole thing seems SUPER SHADY and we have cancelled and are taking our chances with a new insurance company as we can't keep paying hundreds of dollars per month only to get slapped with a "claims surcharge" for ever using the insurance we pay so much for. Hard nope. Do not recommend.
