Don’t let their USAA affiliation fool you, not the level of service of USAA

I had chosen Embrace because I have had USAA insurance for over 40 years with excellent customer service and claims processing. Embrace is a nightmare to deal with! I have cancelled the policy on both my dogs and move over to SPCA insurance where I had excellent customer service and claims processing on my last dog. They may be a little more expensive a month, but worth every penny not to have to deal with Embrace ever again. They are terrible.

Scam artists. Sloppy ones, at that.

We were cautiously optimistic that the pet insurance we paid good money for would finally be useful when our pup was diagnosed with a soft-tissue sarcoma months after we started our coverage. But, like all insurance companies, Embrace did everything possible to avoid holding up their side of the deal. They denied our claim for surgery and treatment with a hollow and absolutely pathetic argument about their pre-existing conditions policy. Just understand that they will, without a doubt, weasel their way out of any obligation they have to cover your pet. And they’ll do it shamelessly, with the most mealy-mouthed legalese imaginable. Maybe the most pathetic thing about Embrace, though, is their utterly transparent lack of competence. While they deceitfully attempted to explain why they are denying our rightful claim to the coverage we paid for, they made blatant errors about the most basic facts of the case/claim (e.g., which side of the body the tumor was on, which anatomical space the tumor was on, etc.). Don’t make the same mistake we did buying Embrace pet insurance. You’re better off paying out of pocket from the start, since that’s what you’ll be doing anyway. P.S. If you have any doubts about the unethical nature of this company, just take a look at the comments they make on the negative reviews here. The feigned sincerity while they spit in your face is nauseating.

Beware of Embrace Pet Insurance

I have had Embrace Insurance about 10 years for my dog. I would never recommend this company to anyone. As someone who at one point who had 2 dogs on the policy that both went through quite a lot of heath issues, I got tired of the nitpick from Embrace on just about everything. Most was about denial because "it's not USDA approved treatment" but they will cover drugs that are not FDA approved for use in your pets. Customer Service gives you lip service and at times can be quite patronizing. Ask to speak with a claims adjuster they take a message to have someone call you back and hear nothing. The hold time is beyond 20 minutes to reach customer service. My favorite from customer service is "submit a claim and see if it's a covered service". Why this company even bothers to have customer service is beyond me. Also, what they will not tell you when you sign up is the amount of money per month you will pay with an older pet. My monthly premium for one dog went from $250.00 a month at age 10 to $355.00 a month at age 11. Paying claims within 10 to 15 business days results in waiting for a payment for as long as 21 days. Granted they paid most claims but at what expense to myself and my pet. With my next pet I will be using another company.
