Aggressive (!) premium increases when there’s a claim
Embrace was actually great for the first couple years—but wait until you submit an expensive claim. Initially, the premium was high but manageable. Last year, my cat required surgery and Embrace more than doubled my premium this year. My cat has no other medical issues and nothing the surgery didn’t correct, and my premiums now amount to $3400 per year (truly). What’s the likelihood my healthy cat’s bills will amount to more than that every year going forward? Just about nil.
Embrace tries to push out customers with claims—or to recoup everything they paid out within a couple years. That’s not how insurance is supposed to work. Healthy pets with no claims are supposed to subsidize my cat’s bills when he’s sick (and vice versa)—insurance payments shouldn’t be a loan where the insurance company tries to get back from me every penny they paid soon thereafter. So disappointing!
