I adopted a 3 year old dog and …

I adopted a 3 year old dog and purchased insurance with ASPCA. He was completely healthy as a young dog. A while later he began limping. We were asked if a specific accident caused it, and we weren't sure because he plays with our son, he plays in our fenced in yard, we don't watch him 24/7-we just knew he started limping suddenly so it's highly likely some accident caused it, we just don't know what accident? Jumping off the couch? Running and tripping on a ditch? Chasing a cat? Who knows? So we took him to the vet, they x-rayed him and stated that an injury caused his limping noting something about a possible small fracture and deemed it as arthritis due to an injury. They refused to cover it because they said they don't know if the injury occurred before we got insurance or not. Well, he's three. There are a lot of things that could have happened prior to adopting him but one thing is certain-he wasn't limping and then he was. My insurance covered accidents and injuries yet they refused to cover it at all. Additionally, the plan option coverage costs were expensive. Over $40 a MONTH for full coverage. I cancelled my plan, unfortunately. I know insurance companies not covering claims is nothing new, it was just really disappointing because they were recommended by a family member.

No hassle, easy to make a claim and get paid back what they claim.

This was the first time I made a claim and it went very smooth. Easy to put the claim in and they explained everything that was covered and it was all itemized. Payment was fast within 2 weeks of incident. They even called us when the process was all set and asked how the animal was doing. Very happy we had this for this unexpected incident right before Christmas.

I was relieved I had kept Andy's insurance current.

I insured two of my dogs. One passed away prematurely at the age of 8. My ASPCA pet insurance expired at midnight. Honey passed away at 6:00 am. The 6 hours caused Honey's illness to be a pre-existing one making the last visit emergency room expenses ineligible for coverage. I could have fought it but was too grief stricken. My other dog Andy just passed away on 10/25/17. The policy reimbursed me for almost all expenses (up to my level's limit $3,000)for which I am very grateful.
