I adopted a 3 year old dog and purchased insurance with ASPCA. He was completely healthy as a young dog. A while later he began limping. We were asked if a specific accident caused it, and we weren't sure because he plays with our son, he plays in our fenced in yard, we don't watch him 24/7-we just knew he started limping suddenly so it's highly likely some accident caused it, we just don't know what accident? Jumping off the couch? Running and tripping on a ditch? Chasing a cat? Who knows? So we took him to the vet, they x-rayed him and stated that an injury caused his limping noting something about a possible small fracture and deemed it as arthritis due to an injury. They refused to cover it because they said they don't know if the injury occurred before we got insurance or not. Well, he's three. There are a lot of things that could have happened prior to adopting him but one thing is certain-he wasn't limping and then he was. My insurance covered accidents and injuries yet they refused to cover it at all. Additionally, the plan option coverage costs were expensive. Over $40 a MONTH for full coverage. I cancelled my plan, unfortunately. I know insurance companies not covering claims is nothing new, it was just really disappointing because they were recommended by a family member.
