ASPCA | Pet Insurance Review

Incredibly happy and satisfied with ASPCA. We decided to get pet insurance for our German Shepherd puppy when he was about 12 weeks old. ASPCA is a little more expensive than other plans, but it has been well worth it. Our puppy had to go to the emergency room and was hospitalized for several days. It was stressful and would have been even worse if we had to figure out how to pay for his treatment out of pocket. We were glad that we didn't have to make any decisions based on financial constraints and could just give him all the extra care he needed. Submitting claims is easy online, and we received the reimbursement within a couple weeks. We decided not to get preventative care, but in hindsight we wish we had, as our little guy has been high maintenance. When we come up for renewal, I will probably add the preventative care. If I had to do it again, I would have gotten the insurance before I even got our dog, so we could have used all the preventative care allowances from the beginning.

My cats have been insured via ASPCA Pet Insurance since 2007 and 2009. My coverage and benefits are straightforward and clear, making claims was always easy and got easier when everything transitioned to online, and reimbursement is quick (under 2 weeks usually). They clearly care about the wellbeing of my pets, since they call to see how the cats are after I've made a claim for a surgery, and they sent a card when one of my cats passed away. It's nice to be able to talk directly to a person every time I call.

I've had a great experience using ASPCA pet insurance so far. My puppy hurt his paw and then fell sick and the entire claim filing, processing, and reimbursement for both instances couldn't be easier. The customer service is the outstanding and it's great to know that I can confidently rely on my pet insurance.

When my 11 year old cat grew a tumor suddenly and terrifyingly rapidly, I got him in for an emergency vet appointment ASAP. There was no time to think about finances. Many tests were done and within the week his toe was amputated to remove the tumor. The biopsy came back that it was indeed cancer--and that we successfully got it all off of him! It was a MAJOR relief, as this cat is my best friend in the world, but the vet bills were considerable. I put in a claim with ASPCA, who I've had as my pet insurer for several years now, and they covered about 75% of the full costs of EVERYTHING! That took a lot of the financial burden off of me and helped me focus on what was important--nursing my cat back to health. Filing the claim was super easy with their online form and there was no hassling me about what any of the line charges meant, etc. In fact, the only phone call I got from them was a call after the check was already mailed to me to see if my cat feeling better. Their thoughtful, speedy service was very appreciated during what was an incredibly stressful, emotional time. I would advise, if getting this insurance, to not choose one of their pre-selected packages, and instead construct your own insurance package based on your pet's specific needs. I believe it was because I had carefully gone through and picked out each thing I needed from the insurance plan that allowed me to have such a positive experience.
