Waiting period for ACL

I'm not happy about a 180-day "waiting period" for ACL tears. Given the amount of money we've spent on premiums over the last 17 years, it would be reasonable to have this covered at the same time as any other illness/injury.

I still do not understand why...

I still do not understand why AKC Pet Health does not pay toward de-worming my puppy. Your representative was clear that this is because my puppy tested positive for worms. My puppy is now clear of worms due to the veterinary care I gave him.

I cant beieve when you buy...

I cant believe when you buy pet insurance you have to wait 180days to file a claim. Why would anyone want pet insurance??? When I bought pet insurance when you were trying to sell it to me you said the most you would have to wait to file a claim is 30 days

Very friendly service. Just wish you had a web site where claims could be submitted and status viewed.

Monthly Cost

$5 – $90 depending on coverage options chosen.

Coverage

You have a co-pay of 20% after your annual deductible. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

Per incident limit of $1,500 – $8,000 and annual limits of $3,000 – $16,000 depending on your chosen plan.

Deductible

Choose from $100 – $1,000 annual deductible.

Age Limits

Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll with no upper age limit. Coverage options available for senior pets.

Waiting Period

Coverage goes into effect one day after enrollment. There is a 5-day wait period for accident claims and 14-day wait period for illness claims. AKC Pet Insurance provides 30 days of accident and illness insurance coverage included with AKC registration for newly registered puppies.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Customizable plans allow you to add-on coverage for inherited and congenital conditions, exam fees and wellness care. Cancer coverage included in base accident and illness plan.
