How to Save Money at Alpine Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My family has been going here for many years. Awesome staff they’re so kind and helpful. I had an emergency with my kittty and I couldn’t get the emergency vet out here they were busy, but they got me in that morning as soon as possible. Great vets and vet assistants. They definitely care a lot about any animal that comes in!

I have been taking my White German shepherds to Alpine for over 12 years. In that time, I have always been treated with compassion, care, and professionalism from both the front staff and the doctors. They saved one of my girls on a Saturday years ago when none of the other 7 vets in town would even pick up the phone, or were even available. That kind of service is hard to find. I have Dr. Beacom now treating my 12 week old pups, after caring for and euthanizing my last two 11 year old's in this past year at differing times. Alpine's compassion and care for my elderly girls, who had been pups when they first saw them, warmed my heart beyond words. They sent me flowers, and a card, and also gave me my babies cremains in a nice wooden box. They put out a candle when a pet is being put down, asking for prayers at that time. Honoring the pet that is passing, and their parents. I will never go to another vet, no matter the cost. When you find a vet that truly cares, stick with them. I highly recommend Alpine and Dr. Beacom. You may find cheaper prices, I haven't checked, but I do know Alpine has saved my babies a few times, and I know that they also have allowed my babies to pass from this earth in a swift and pain free manner. They have always answered the phone in an emergency . Nothing else matters to me. They will price match meds too.

I didn't catch the girls name. But this morning, my Lil girl had passed. I'm not from here. So I started making the calls on who could help me cremate my Lil girl. This lady on the phone was so compassionate, was calm. Even thou I clearly was loosing it on the other end. Zoned out for a min, she gave me a sec to collect myself. Than said when your ready, I'll be here to help you. Lil did she know, this was my first dog ever. Since I was in my early 20s. This morning was a nightmare. But she made it so much easier to handle, what we don't wanna face. So I didn't catch her name, but I truly glad. I decided for this vets office to handle my girls cremation.

It's literally the worst place to take your pet. If you care about your pets and money, steer clear of the terrible people. Price gouging with hidden fees to keep the lights on and compete with the competition in town. Bad reputation you have made for yourself. Rude staff that wants to get confrontational any time you have an issue with the hidden fees that they can't even explain. Yall are terrible individuals.

So happy with our emergency visit, our Golden was seen right away, put under, and given stitches for a big gash on his wrist. They were prompt, professional, and explained everything from the procedure to bandaging to what we need to do to help him heal. We are so grateful for their help and for taking such good care of our dog!
