How to Save Money at Token Creek Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We would give 10 out of 5 stars if we could. 😊 The staff at Token Creek Vet Clinic have always taken great care of our sweet - and now geriatric - dog. During a recent health crisis with our dog, Dr. Mayne and staff went above and beyond to stabilize him and provide exceptional care while we made our way back home from an out-of-state trip. They communicated with us throughout the entire ordeal, and they continued checking in on how he was doing in the days after we took him home. We have always felt grateful for the animal care team at Token Creek Vet Clinic; now our gratitude level is off the charts. They are truly a special team, and we will forever appreciate the care Dr. Mayne and team showed our treasured 16-year-old dog.

We adopted our dog one week prior to his first appointment at TCVC. He was so nervous when walked in! Dr Covington and Aspen were incredibly patient and kind, putting my dog at ease and discussing an upcoming health plan for him. They could have been kinder or more professional!

Our dog, Nelson, was suffering from a tumor on his parathyroid and we didn't even know it. Our vet put all his vague symptoms together and figured out what was wrong with him. We tried several different treatment options which helped a little. What impressed me most was the care and compassion from the doctor and the staff. Dr. Montes checked in with me once or twice a week just to see how he was doing and to discuss other treatment options if needed. Unfortunately his disease continued to progress and we had to make the very hard decision to euthanize. As you can imagine, we were an emotional mess. What made it easier was the compassion of the doctor, the vet tech and even the receptionist. Everything was explained to us in detail and it was a very peaceful passing. Although the outcome wasn't what we wanted I will forever be grateful for the care and compassion they showed to us and our precious dog.

In the past Token Creek was great however now they have grown to the point where bigger is not better. Token Creek is fine for shots but if your pet is ill I would not go there. I experienced no follow up. Prescriptions that were not called in timely. When they were called in it was wrong. I had different people every time I went in. When my pet had her first results on a Friday I was called by the doctor and told lab results would be emailed to me in case I needed to go to emergency over the weekend. The lab results were never emailed that Friday and they were closed until Monday. I had no idea what was wrong with my pet. Due to many things I no longer use Token Creek.

TCVC has been nothing short of amazing! I take both my cats and my very nervous dog there, and all the staff has been incredibly kind, helpful, and compassionate. They’re great at working with nervous animals without making it too overstimulating. Dr. Falch in particular is an absolute angel with my nervous dog and has been really supportive with ongoing issues with my cats.
