How to Save Money at Healthy Paws Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
When I first started taking my cat here, they were open 5 days/wk plus some Saturdays, now they're only open 2 days/wk. I've been taking my cat here for itching. First vet told me my cat was crazy & needs a shrink!! Real professional. 2nd vet put her on steroids, did no good & now want me to bring her back in again for another exam to make sure she doesn't have an infection!! From what? From where? More money for office & exam PLUS whatever meds she wants to prescribe. She has allergies & just needs an antihistamine!! I think I need to find a new vet. Dr. Denise is nice & good with my cat but I'm so frustrated & I'm tired of seeing my cat suffer. The good reviews are from yrs ago when they first opened. Look at more recent, they start getting bad & funny they only respond to the "positive" reviews, never negative ones. They were great when they first opened and just went downhill. I'm starting to think Menomonee Falls needs some new vets!

Took our 3 1/2 month old puppy for vaccinations, first time going to Healthy Paws. They were amazing with Zoey! I was a little nervous not being able to go in with her, but Josie called me and so did Dr. Denise to keep me updated for the whole visit. Needless to say we found our new vet.

I had recently moved and stopped using this office and I am glad I did. The main vet is incredibly rude. I had brought one of my dogs in who is afraid of the vet, because I was having some concerns about behavior. The vet asked about training, and I had mentioned his commands were solid, but he had recently been exhibiting some behavioral problems that I did not know how to handle and was looking for advice. When I received my final paperwork, it had nothing but notes in the file talking about how poorly trained my dog was and that I was lying about training him. They had him labeled as a bite threat, he has had no history of aggression towards humans but at the time was struggling with interactions with other dogs. Luckily enough we worked through it without any help. There are ways to work with clients to educate and help them with their animals, and this is NOT the way to do it. If you’re looking for a vet to actually help you and not talk down and you, or put unprofessional labels on your animals, don’t go here. The rest of the staff was great though. Receptionist was always friendly and kind.

We just recently had a visit with this veterinarian, we were able to be seen very quickly and we plan on staying with this clinic. The staff was VERY friendly and accommodating to not only me and my dog but to my schedule as well. The doctor was very patient, understanding and kind. The visit was not rushed by any means but, we were in and out of the office in a timely manner, which is great. I am so happy I found this clinic. Also, if you are curious about the cost, we had a full exam performed due to a rash that required antibiotics as well as ensuring she was up-to-date with her vaccines and the total visit for everything was very inexpensive. Definitely recommend!

Vet and assistant were very demeaning and made my visit extremely uncomfortable. They told me they could not handle my cat without a rabies vaccination (though I have an indoor cat) and then proceeded to examine her before giving the rabies. I did get the cat a vaccination two years ago but because of her deteriorating heart condition I was hesitant and only asking educated questions in which this vet did not want to listen to. She gave me no sympathy for what we are going through and only continued to make me feel very uncomfortable. Also recommended we check stool for worms from two years ago when I told her we don’t have any signs of problems and the cat was treated already. Still wanted a sample?! They told me I would need more medical staff to “fix” my cat due to her heart murmur and they could not help me there. The receptionist was extremely nice. I asked her if she had a card or info for where to get the surgery and she went to ask the vet. When she came out, she told me the vet said to “Google it!” Needless to say, they lost all our business! We had already taken our dog to another vet due to high prices here! I would never recommend this place to anyone!
