Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

New to the area. Took my dog in on a Wednesday for a wellness visit, he had well managed heart disease and I wanted Ostrander to become familiar and tell us what he thought about how he's doing. He told us he looked good. By Thursday at four he was dead. Took him in in the morning because he was having trouble breathing, they had him all day and told my wife he had pneumonia, a enlarged heart and some other mass of something. Charged my wife a thousand bucks and brought the dog out and he didn't make it four miles down the road before he was dead. Now either he totally missed everything the day before or he never looked at him, we'll never know they don't let you in with your pet. Stay away.

New to the area we brought our newly adopted kitten in for a booster. Anna and Dr. O were wonderful and the staff very friendly. Recently I needed a prescription for Bravecto in order to place an order online. I called Hayward Animal Hospital and spoke with Doreen. We had a nice chat and she gave me details on the Vet Store. The following day I received the log in info. I ordered the Bravecto and the price was better than other sites I'd visited. I highly recommend HAH. Staff is awesome. I feel like my fur babies are in great hands here.

Dr. Ostrander has been my pets doctor for more than 19 years. I've never had any issues with his service. It has always been professional care. I've heard people's opinions regarding their favorite vet; mine has always been Dr. Ostrander of Hayward Animal Hospital. He always treated my pets like they were his own. You can tell that he has a love for animals the way he looks into the eyes of your pet. I know he can see things that we can't. He has always treated my pets with expert care. I have to admit that I did listen to friends and tried other vets. The common theme was that they were always misdiagnosed. I ended up spending more money with an incorrect diagnosis and then felt like a fool and always went back to my vet. I admit that I did that twice and that was enough for me to know that Dr. Ostrander KNEW my pets from when they got their first shots as pups. He knew what ailments they were susceptible to and the first treatment always made them better within a 48 hours. So I happily give Dr. Ostrander 5 Stars for excellent treatment! If you are looking for a passionate vet who will treat your pet like his own then there is only one option- Dr. Ostrander of Hayward Animal Hospital.

Got a dog this vet had spayed and never took out the stitches. Was told they were dissolvable, they weren't. Took in our kitty to be fixed, they started a spay on a boy cat and said no charge for the partial spay. Just used them for a holiday emergency, our old dog wasn't feeling well. They did everything they could to run up the bill. Most of it unnecessary. They left tape on my dog's leg that won't come off. Highly do not recommend.

My 1 year old lab was playing/swimming when all of a sudden she was bellowing in pain. She has never had anything like this happen before. I called my normal vet, but they could not take anymore ER visits that day. My husband called the Hayward animal hospital, and they got her in right away. My husband and I carried our dog in and waited for the Dr. to see her. We were so distraught and upset because our dog is always happy and energetic and she was crying in pain.We were relieved when the Dr. said it was not an ACL but just a hamstring. He said it would take some time to heal and we thanked him. Though I am happy with the outcome and that our dog would not need surgery, and the price was okay considering the circumstance. I found the front desk to he very unfriendly and stand offish. They seemed to care about their masks and sanitizer when we were carrying our dog inside. Even when some of the people there were not wearing masks. They had a rude tone when they were reading the medication to us, and when I asked if I could go to my normal vet for further medication or if I would I have to come back here and they said no you can go back home and go to your normal vet. I said no I mean my normal vet right here in town, because we lived in Hayward. After I said we lived in Hayward they seemed to be a little nicer to us. For living around Hayward for 6 years and driving by the animal hospital 100+ times, I see why other locals have told my not to go here.
