How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Tacoma Equine Hospital

Preventive care

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I took my mare to Tacoma Equine when she had an issue with some hind end lameness. The team there took excellent care of both me and my mare! Thankfully, it wasn’t anything serious but I really appreciated how thorough they were in diagnostics to make sure! My mare only ended up needing some injections and it was assumed there was a trauma to the area (kicked a wall perhaps, the shoe was skewed a bit). Can’t recommend them enough; from kind prompt service up front to thorough thoughtful vets and techs in the back, would go back in a heartbeat if necessary

Each of the doctors and staff members at TEQ have been incredible to work with. From prompt and friendly assistance from the office to professional care and genuine concern from both veterinarians and technicians, I have never been disappointed.

Tacoma Equine has assisted me with several emergencies and their care is top notch but what really stands out is their follow up. I've been completely supported as I navigate those scary moments afterwards when the many questions pop up.

Today my horse decided he wanted to break into the barn and eat as much grain as he wanted. I called Tacoma Equine and immediately was spoken to very kindly. The on call vet was so nice and they were at my house 30 minutes later to help my horse. I can't say enough good things about them. I highly recommend them, and will use them for any of my horses future needs. Thank you ladies for helping Altivo today.

I've interacted with this practice twice as an out-of-their-service-area horse owner, and both encounters have been so pleasant. Most recently, they conducted a prepurchase exam for me, and from the moment I called the hospital, through the exam for which I couldn't be present (but talked to the doctor on the phone), to check out and obtaining records, they've been very professional, friendly, and helpful. Sadly, the horse I was considering failed his PPE, but I'm grateful the problems were uncovered. My first encounter was 2 years ago when I called to ask about treatment for my beloved heart horse with wobblers and the hospital owner took the time to talk to me about my horse. I really *wish* I was in their service area, because they'd be my go-to horse vet. Thank you Tacoma Equine.
