How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Vets Animal Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

You can compare coverage options from multiple providers to find a plan that fits your budget and your pet’s healthcare needs.
Getting to Know Your Veterinarian
Choosing a veterinarian is an important decision for pet parents. A strong vet relationship is built on trust, communication, and understanding your pet’s individual needs.
Experience
Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.
Emergency Care Procedures
It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.
Communication Preferences
Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.
Breed Specific Health Considerations
Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.
Facility Tour
If available, touring the clinic can help you and your pet feel more comfortable before the first visit.

We arrived at our 4:15 appointment early and had to wait because the vet was still on her lunch break. Then we waited 45 minutes past our appointment and ended up leaving because it was clear we wouldn't be getting the help we needed. They didn't remember what our appointment had been for, took a walk-in patient before us, and refused to help a dying dog even though it was his appointment time because we and others were still waiting to be seen for our appointments. Overall, they clearly lack organization, time management skills, and empathy for pets. Bring your pets to a vet that cares about you and them because Vets Animal Hospital doesn't.

We arrived at 4 for our 4:15pm appointment. The vet was still at lunch so we waited 15 minutes. We then waited 45 minutes past our appointment time because they took a walk-in before us, although we were told they don't take walk-ins and that dog was a drop-off (sounds like the same thing, right?) We had explained that our dog needed his tooth extracted when we set up the appointment, but they seemed to think it was just a check up. While waiting, a man came in claiming that the vet wouldn't see his dying dog even though it was his appointment time. That showed me that the entire clinic does not care about the lives of their patients. We grabbed our paperwork and left to go somewhere else. Please take your furry friends to a vets office that cares about you, your time, and your pet's health.

Has been the best for our puppy dog since we moved here 5 years ago. Dr. Campbell is special.

Terrible service, always takes an hour to be seen with an appointment. Also, the clinic smells pretty bad, we came to this vet because others were at full capacity, but I have been to other clinics out of state and they never smell bad. I wouldn't recommend it, unfortunately living on an island limits your options but definitely not worth it.
