How to Save Money at Brady Veterinary Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

New doc this time which I wasn’t a fan of. Honest statement. However she was awesome along with her assistant. Front desk has always been awesome. For future and existing patients and parents. Vet bills suck! Everywhere you go. But it’s apart of having our fur babies. Get a doc with integrity and your good. And for the record most of us obviously want our companions as soon as we can after operations. Only in America! It used to be a standard of 3 days post op. I would love to see this as a standard again. Just saying.

Our 1yr old German Shepherd began throwing up and stopped eating. We called every vet clinic/animal hospital (even our normal Veterinarian), within a 70 mile radius. The first thing that they wanted to discuss was payment. Before we could even explain the emergency with our baby. Brady Veterinarian was the ONLY place that genuinely cared about our dog. (Yes, payment is absolutely an important part of any service.) But, Brady Veterinarian put our dogs health BEFORE anything! Our dog was the priority. They didn't treat us like a business transaction. They immediately had us bring him in. After 2 weeks of consistent xrays and different medications, we were able to figure out what was going on with him. If it weren't for them, I am absolutely certain that our dog would have died. My husband and I had to leave our baby with them, a handful of times. Every time that we had to leave him there, I cried. But I never cried because I didn't feel comfortable leaving him there. I cried because that's my baby. And I hated seeing him sick and in pain. The only comfort that I had when I left, was that I knew he was with people that genuinely cared and love animals. I knew he was safe and in good hands! He ended up having to have surgery. And the staff always made sure I was updated. And never made me feel like I was an inconvenience or nuisance, for calling them to get updates. They treated my dog, my husband and I with compassion and respect. And updated us whenever we asked. The girls at the front desk, were just as amazing and friendly! I've never been so satisfied with my experience at any business, until now. I don't have a bad thing to say about any of the people that work here! If I could rate them 1,000 stars on here, I would! I will never contact any other place. Brady Veterinarian is the only place I will now take my dog to! I am truly grateful for all of the wonderful people at Brady Veterinarian!

Always friendly and caring staff & doctors. I've been going to Brady Vet since 2009, and have never had any issues. No one likes to pay for vet services, but we love our fur babies so it is all worth it. I always feel like every single person there cares about your pet and your feelings/concerns. Always a wonderful experience, which is why I will keep bringing my pets in. :)

They got me in for an emergency appointment for my dog no problem, same day. Even though they were busy, they made time for my dog and helped him. We only had to wait maybe 5 minutes after we checked in to be seen. Everyone from reception to the nurse to the doctor was so kind and wonderful. They care about the pets and their humans, too. I was emotionally just as wrecked as my dog, and they were so caring. Plus they have an amazing planted fish tank in the lobby!
