How to Save Money at L&L Animal Urgent Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My dog needed urgent care and could not be seen by our normal vet. We were recommended L&L. They got my dog Thor in quickly and couldn't have been nicer. Dr. Stephanie was very gentle and loving with her patient. Gabby the vet tech was attentive and sweet. Sydney at the front desk provided great care and love to my animal. Needless to say Thor did not leave traumatized by any means and left with a wagging tail. I'd highly recommend this clinic based on their care, attentiveness, cleanliness, and kindness of their staff. Only downside was my bill, but you get what you pay for. ;)

My cat had suddenly swollen gums last week, and I'm grateful that I discovered L&L Urgent Care. They provided excellent care, swiftly alleviated the severe symptoms, and helped my cat regain her energy and appetite quickly. They also recommended a regular vet clinic and emphasized the importance of confirming the dental care schedule with the clinic before making an appointment.. Following their advice, my cat received impeccable dental treatment at the recommended clinic this week, and she has since made a speedy recovery. She now feels more energetic and is in a good mood every day. Dr. Stephanie was absolutely amazing. She is kind, patient, and loving toward my cats. She explained every detail clearly to us, and we feel fortunate to have her as our first vet in this area. While I hope my cat won't need urgent care in the future, I wholeheartedly recommend L&L and Dr. Stephanie.

I'm completely impressed by the swift, attentive, compassionate, and experienced care my cat Oscar received at L&L urgent care. Oscar was not eating -- and Dr. Stoegbauer comprehensively assessed his health and recommended effective options to address the issue. I was happy to report that Oscar had resumed normal eating -- when Dr. S called the next day. Her entire team demonstrates high competence coupled with compassion. I highly recommend L&L urgent care in your time of need.

(A long review from a former kitty owner 🐈‍⬛) I am greatly thankful for being led to this wonderful urgent care pet clinic. All of the other vet clinics in my area were scheduled full with appointments so they weren’t able to get my senior tuxedo cat in that was fighting an illness and was getting very sick (ER wasn’t an option due to tight money restraints). Luckily, I was referred to L&L from another clinic and I called them first thing in the morning. They were able to have me come in that same day. On my first visit, I was met with such sweet, knowledgeable, and wonderful staff. The kind receptionist welcomed me into the facility and led me to a room. My cat got his vitals checked, ran some blood work, and was given some medicine to take home within an hour and a half. Dr. Pierce is fantastic. She was genuinely patient, friendly and she let me know everything that was going on with my cat. She also respected my budgeting (thank you!) and we went over things that we could do to help Tux while keeping it wallet friendly. A few days later under unfortunate circumstances, I had to take in my cat to put him down due to his illness that was getting progressively worse despite the meds. I knew it was time to let him go so I went first thing in the morning after setting up an appointment. We discussed payment and memorabilia with Jessica (we decided to do a private cremation) in which we got to choose what urn to have his ashes in and a clay charm that has his paw print pressed into it. As for the euthanasia process, it was explained first in full detail by Dr. Pierce. She’s given us all the time for my family and I to say goodbye & to comfort my cat before notifying her that we were ready to begin. Everything went by smoothly with no issues besides a whole lot of crying. It was a tough experience but knowing that he passed away peacefully in the arms of his owners that loved & cared for him his whole life keeps my mind at ease. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart to the staff that were sympathetic throughout the entire time and their hard efforts in taking care of my cat. I would reccomend this place if your furbabies need high quality care.

Vet did not check my dog properly, assumed that dog has underlying problems and that is the cause for the sudden pain and gait issue in my dog. I told my dog is in pain and do not want to put one of her leg. She did not check/examine the leg properly, it had infection and inflammation and her toe was swollen. I gave 2 stars because she gave at least antibiotic and a pain medication as infections and wounds not healing easily is a problem with a diabetic dog. I trimmed hair 2 days later and saw toe was swollen and started antibiotic immediately (which I postponed 2 days to see how she would take new pain medication). Antibiotic helped and swelling came down a bit in a day and of course pain too.
