How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Vista Veterinary Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

I honestly don’t know how this vet office is so highly recommended. We have two doodles and we a) can’t ever get in, it’s weeks. So if you have an emergency or need a quick visit, vista is not an option. B) they nickel and dime you for everything. Example- made an apt for our dog to get spayed weeks ago. We’re 2 days out from surgery and they just called to cancel because she needs another wellness check up. Mind you she’s been in multiple times over the last 6 months because she was pregnant. We also got a quote for teeth cleaning $1100… went 4 hours away to our old vet and paid $400…do your research. Get other quotes. It’s worth it. We will be moving on. No more chances here.

I wouldn't recommend this clinic to anyone. Their prices are more expensive than any clinic in town. I have tried twice to get an emergency visit with the vet and they told me to take her to the ER both times. My last appointment there i was hoping to see the vet but they told me that appointment is for shots only.i asked them how am i supposed to know that there will be no vet involved, they just shrug their shoulders.Even after I explained that my 6 months old puppy hasn't been feeling well they said I cant see her vet today anyways. Only after I said that I am done with this clinic and will be transferring my dogs records to a different clinic they said they have time available. Very frustrating experience with them. Especially when your dog is still a puppy.

We have taken our pets to Vista Vet for over 20 years. I have nothing but praise for their compassionate, professional staff.

Took my female tabby, Kiki, to establish routine vet. The staff are wonderful and very caring. Kiki seemed to like the staff, so it was a win for us.

They listened to my concerns, and answered my questions. They didn't make me feel rushed.
