How to Save Money at Grant Veterinary Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I have to write another review about Grant Veterinary Care. Dr. Turner, Beth, Zoie, and Jess are absolutely amazing. I would rate them ten stars instead of five if I could. They all genuinely care about my fur babies Ryleigh and Groot as if they were their own.

I cannot recommend Grant Veterinary Care enough. My sweet Finn had been missing for two months- TWO MONTHS! After a long, extensive search and trapping process, we finally got him home. As you’d imagine, Finn was infested with ticks, had multiple skin abrasions, and was very, very skinny. Dr. Turner, Beth, and the rest of the team took him in without hesitation and gave him optimal care. They are affordable, reliant, intelligent, and efficient. They happily answered all of my crazy dog mom questions. Thanks to them, my sweet Finn is healing properly. I would recommend them to everyone who is looking for a veterinary clinic full of love and care!! Thank you Grant Vet Clinic for everything you do!

The staff are the friendliest, most inviting people I have come across. I have been to many vets and have always felt intimidated when talking with the staff and doctors. BUT Grant Vet made me feel so welcome and cared for my baby like he was their own. I can't wait for our next visit with them.

This is definitely the best vet office I have been to! Amazing staff, beautiful office and answered all my questions! They were amazing at educating me on the vaccines my dog needed and did phenomenal at administering them. They were so friendly and made my puppy feel so loved that he didn’t even want to leave! Highly recommend bringing your fur babies here!! They won’t let you down(:

I was very nervous about having my dog neutered because I had lost my puppy Hudson suddenly less than a year prior. Although that loss was completely unrelated, he had been hit by a speeding car and killed on impact. I was traumatized and since we got Zeke our Bernese mountain dog I was extremely cautious with every decision I have made with him. As I entered Grant Veterinary care Zeke and I were greeted but the office administrator (she stood up and came out from behind her desk) and vet tech (who dropped all her other obligations to come out) they bypassed me and were all smiles as they loved on my sweet boy, my heart, which put me at ease, immediately . It was easy to feel the love they have for their job and the animals they are caring for. The vet actually came out and explained everything and took the time to reassure me. There was not one moment I felt like a number or rushed, the care we received gave me confidence in their ability. Most importantly I could sense the genuineness in this small local business and their desire to serve their community and provide a service to the best of their ability. I was so thankful I was recommended to them. If you don’t have a vet or don’t love where you are currently taking you’re pet to, I highly recommend Grant veterinary care.
