How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Dominion Veterinary Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

So far, just in the last six months, Dominion vets, techs, and staff have seen Gimli, Morse, Marple, Castle, and Mattie. I never have an issue getting them seen in a timely manner. Morse was an emergency. No problem, bring him in. Mattie was a bit less urgent but brought her in on the same day. Morse needed surgery, and the vets kept me informed every step of the way. My dogs are 2nd only to my boy, so I'm saying a lot when I say I trust their care to Dominion.

I have been with them since 2017 and now even living near the oceanfront I still travel to them. They are so caring and that means so much. Prices are very reasonable. This is the only vet my dogs are not nervous or afraid to go to. That says so much! When my mini dachshund had an accident and badly hurt his spine and required immediate surgery they advised me who to go through and because of their due diligence and fast action my dog can now walk again. I cannot thank Dr. Sears and all staff enough.

This place is the best Ever and trust me we have lots of experience with 4 dogs & 4 cats and having lived in Calif., TN. Fl. And now VA. They are so nice and truly care about our tail swaggers and purrers! And the prices are very reasonable. They never push extra expensive tests unless absolutely necessary. They give military discounts. And we have never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen. LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!!!

I have brought my dog here multiple times over the course of our time in Chesapeake. The only reason I would suggest and also think other pet owners continue to bring their pets here is because the place is clean and the staff at the front give great service and are very inviting. The doctors however, are terrible and should be replaced. I have never met vets who didn’t want to actually help the dog. Instead they want you to keep coming back and spend hundreds of dollars and give no answers. I dont know how many times he has told me he doesnt know the issue, yet everytime I come into this facility I spend HUNDREDS of dollars on things that would fix my pets issues just for it to not work, anytime you ask for refills you are denied and referred to come in again to spend more money than you did the first time. I wouldn’t waste my time, money, effort, nor energy coming because in the long run you’ll just be dissatisfied unless you just want good vibes from the receptionist.

They don't know how to treat animals. Twice they couldn't tell it was time to put our pets down. First time was our cat. He was a diabetic and we couldn't afford his medicine. Doctor didn't even give us a choice, just threw medicine at us. 2nd time was just recently. Our dog was very very sick and they told us they didn't have any room or they were busy.
