How to Save Money at UrgentVet
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

New to the area and didn’t have a vet yet when my senior dog came had an emergency that needed to be seen immediately. They are open on Saturdays and you can make an appointment easily online. Check in is easy and the office is clean and welcoming. The staff are very friendly and compassionate. You can tell they LOVE their jobs and work towards finding solutions for your pets. I feel the services are affordable and accurate. The staff took the time to explain everything to me and made sure I understood and agreed to services. Would bring another pet here is needed.

Cannot say enough great things about UrgentVet - Clear Lake. I have unfortunately had to make a couple trips over the years, and every time I’ve visited I have been met with kindness, gentleness, full attention, and cleanliness. The place is spotless! Every tech and doctor I’ve met has been wonderful and comforting. They really care about you and your pets. Another wonderful thing is they are extremely transparent about pricing, which is hard to find in the veterinary department. They just truly want to help in the best and easiest ways possible, and they make that clear. Maisy and I say thank you so so much, UrgentVet!🩷

Great urgent care for pets in the area. Everyone was so nice and knowledgeable. How took wonderful care of Boston Terrier who broke her dew claw. It wasn’t as expensive as it would have been going to another emergency vet in the area. I definitely recommend and will go back when needed.

I brought my sick dog in after he had been throwing up since the previous day. My Aunt referred them because they were also amazing when she needed them. From the time I called until the time they referred us to the emergency vet up the street, they were amazing! So sincere and informative. They have a sincere and high quality staff. Some of these places seem to care only about up charging and how many tests they can sell you. Not this place! My dog’s health and well being truly cane first. They examined my dog and felt due to dehydration he’d benefit more from an overnight clinic and sent me there with no charge. They had every opportunity to charge me a good few hundred or more and did not because it would not be beneficial to my little guy. We are not out of the woods yet but their part in this was heartwarming. I am honestly still in shock. I highly recommend this place and they will be my go to when needed in the future. Thank you to them for their kind and compassionate care!

I brought my dog Piper in last night for an emergency and every associate that I spoke with from the initial phone call to the veterinarian were so helpful and kind. I called ahead to see if it was a good time to bring my dog in where they encouraged me to come as soon as I could and took my information over the phone to speed the check-in process along. When we made it to the office we were promptly brought to an exam room where they triaged Piper, took her vitals, and did a physical exam. The vet was very knowledgeable and offered great advice. You can tell she really cares about her patients and is there to help. I thought for an emergency vet the prices were reasonable and I never felt pressured to spend thousands on further diagnostics which I have experienced at other emergency vets. I received a phone call today from an associate checking on Piper who is doing much better today after some fluids and medication. I would highly recommend UrgentVet and while I hope Piper does not experience any other emergencies, we will be using UrgentVet as our after-hour vet from here on out.
