How to Save Money at Harmony Pet Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I found this place one day because my pup had multiple seizures through the night and I wanted to get him in somewhere fast and this was the first place that could see him that day. We drove from Navasota to Spring and figured we would get him stable and take him somewhere closer to home. Once we walked in, every single staff member was so welcoming and caring. After this first visit we decided to stick with this vet. The doctor has been phenomenal at helping us get his seizures under control. Recently he became very ill and we called and again were able to get in the same day. They ran tests, which the doctor was very honest and didn’t run any unnecessary tests like we have experienced in the past with previous vets. They kept him throughout the day and we were sent home with great instructions on how to care for him. Again today, I called in a panic because he had not eaten and the doctor prescribed some medication. When I arrived to pick up this medication the staff all knew who I was (great feeling!) and asked how my dog was doing and the doctor came out and spoke with me personally again! You don’t often find vets like this anymore who make time to speak with clients and answer questions, as well as staff that truly care about your pet. This place is well worth the drive for us and we will forever be clients now! Thank you for the care and attention you have shown to us and our boy, Scout!!

Let me say up front, I am very picky about all medical care. One of my puppies developed an eye issue and our regular vet is closed on the weekend. I checked out reviews on Nextdoor and saw several recommendations for this new clinic. I was able to get an appt Saturday morning. The location is ez to find, and the space is very clean and modern. The staff at check-in were so warm and friendly. We were seen quickly by the doctor. Our puppy is 4 months and she's very hyper. The doctor and the medical assistant were very patient and kind. She was given a diagnosis with meds. It's been 24 hours and her eye looks much better already. The cost was very reasonable as well. I am so grateful for this office and will be making this our new medical provider for both our puppies. Highly recommend!

My beautiful cat became very sick very quickly. I rushed her in and called as I was pulling up. They were waiting for us to bring her in. Unfortunately, my sweet girl was too sick and didn't make it. But the staff was so sweet and caring during this very sad time in my life. They layed her on blankets and let me spend as much time as I wanted with her. They guided me through the cremation information and were so sweet when I went back to get her ashes. I was a mess but they made the process of losing my beautiful girl a bit easier because of their care and love for what they all do. Thank you all for everything.

I’m not one to leave bad reviews but unfortunately there was a major inconvenience caused to my travel plans due to the receptionist not booking my appointment with the correct accredited veterinarian although I called them a month in advance to ask all the questions and scheduled my appointment 2 weeks in advance specifically requesting for an international health certificate with plenty of time to ensure everything went smooth as there’s a very short timeframe for the certificate and endorsement to be done. If it wasn’t because I called to ask for clarification on a few items today I would’ve not found out that my appointment was never even scheduled with the correct international accredited doctor, until the day of my appointment, which would’ve been way too late and delayed my travel plans completely causing HUGE financial distress. Please ensure your team is fully knowledgeable of this service if you offer it to avoid this type of situations in the future.

Just moved into town with my older dog jack. Unfortunately jack took a turn for he worse and I had to bring him in. I cannot tell you how sensitive and caring everyone was. I was a bit of a mess and they handled it very nicely. I spent one more night with Jack and brought him in. They had a room ready with a blanket, low lighting, treats, tissues, and also suggested I check out before the whole ordeal so I wouldn't have to wait at the counter and did it in the room before. The doctor was incredible and cannot suggest him enough. I was able to get my lil man cremated and setup with a really nice memory box... Later that day I got a new friend and brought him in for his shots the next day. He came back totally healthy and the doctor obviously recognized me from the day before and offered his condolences again... I do have to say I love how transparent they are on costs. I've lived in 6/8 different states with dogs and this is the first that's like well we want to do this, that's 24$, and we need this this this which are.... Then they say you okay and want to proceed? It was always a surprise register cost in Chicago and New York ... Like here we go let's see what it is. Check up, first round of shots, month of medication under 140$. Crazy good! So from one spectrum to the other. This is the place. Don't go anywhere else., And cheers to the whole harmony crew. A++
