How to Save Money at True Animal Vet
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr Nicholson and the True Animal team are fantastic! My baby Blink had to go in for a spay. I was just not ready for this. Something just told me it wasn't time but I took her in anyway. So it started off with me getting a call from Dr Nicholson to tell me that the ECG they ran on Blink came back with some issues so they wanted to take an x-ray of her heart and send the results to the cardiologist. No problem better safe than sorry. Ok doctor says it's ok to go ahead with surgery. So they do the spay but then Blink doesn't want to come out of the anesthesia like she should so they keep her a while longer. So we go to pick her up that evening and she still is not up like she should be. So we go back and see if maybe seeing us would help. She just was laying there looking at us. This wasn't my Blink. She was so cold too. Dr Nicholson was concerned about her belly so she did an ultrasound and there was fluid in there so she asked if she could go back in to see what's going on. No problem, do it! We might as well go home and she said she was going to drive her over to the emergency hospital when she finished. She will call us when she finds out what's going on. We could pick her up there in the morning. We waited 2 hrs before we heard anything and Dr Nicholson said she opened her up and she was just bleeding. She had to stop that which was very hard. So as soon as she got that stopped she closed her up and took her to Blue Pearl Emergency Hospital for the night. I didn't sleep all night!! I was so sure I was going to lose my little girl. The next morning we drove over to the hospital to pick her up and my little baby was awake. Weak but awake. So we went to pay our bill and we were told that Dr Nicholson took care of the bill!! Wow! So we took Blink back to True Animal Vet for observation for the day and we went to pick her up that evening. My god, after what we all went through you would never know this dog almost died! She looked amazing. I don't know how I can ever thank Dr Nicholson and the True Team for taking care of my baby Blink. They are now my family vet!

I went to True Animal Vet to have my dog’s dental care done. Everyone from the receptionist to Dr. Nicholson was accommodating and informative about the process. I accidentally fed my dog the day of the procedure so he had to come back the next day but I could tell he was more comfortable coming in the second time letting me know he liked the staff from the first day! Overall a great experience and highly recommend.

Our sweet boy, Oliver Martin Jones (Ollie ) had a pretty bad accident that almost cost him his leg. Dr. Salcetti and her staff worked hard on our little boys wounds. We came in weekly to have his wounds washed and rewrapped. The odds of saving the leg were slim, but the staff at True Animal Vet worked their magic. Now you would never know anything ever happened to Oliver‘s little leg. Oliver M Jones LOVES True Animal Vet and so do we! Now we bring our whole pack for their vaccinations and exams. We can’t say enough about the awesome staff here and how reasonable the prices are. Oliver will forever be grateful we found this place!! Thank you Dr. Salcetti and Suzy!! MAGIC!!!

My Teddy was having severe neck pain suddenly. Called Tru Vet from a recommendation. They were able to fit me in the very next morning. They were thorough, extremely thoughtful and skilled. Didn’t try to sale me on costly diagnostic tests. The total cost of visit was $147. Very reasonable. Would never of got such a fair price at any other vet. Teddy is resting nicely with his new medications and treatment plan. He’s resting well per Docs orders. True Vet is my new vet. When you see that Aggie Ring on the Vets hand, you know you’re in good hands.
