How to Save Money at Scott Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I have gone here for many years when living in this area. Usually they are great, but my recent trip was a different experience. I described my dog's symptoms & also that he was extremely nervous about the vet experience. So we muzzled him, but no one talked nicely to him or tried to soothe him at all. On top of that the vet just looked at me after my description of odd behaviors and said "I don't know what's wrong with him." He did a cursory exam (still not talking to my sick dog) & then said I'll give him a cortisone shot and maybe that will help. I called another vet 2 days later because there was no improvement. After describing the behaviors to the receptionist, she had a good idea what it was & the vet confirmed. We were in & out in 15 minutes plus they were VERY nice to him. I will NEVER go here again.

I tried this Vet 3 or 4 times over the years because of the good reviews. I didn't mind paying more for services there because the reviews were good and the office is close. I have since found a much more compassionate Vet that's more reasonably priced in La Marque. The first couple of visits I assumed Dr. Johnson was just a quiet person but came to realize he's not shy he's arrogant! And the staff goes as their leader goes; unfriendly to the point of being cold, abrupt, rude, indifferent.... get the picture? Then I began thinking If they treat "over paying" customers with contempt how are they treating the pets while in their care??? Absolutely NO people/customer relations SKILLS! No smiles, no greetings, no thank yous, just the hand out for over priced services! I understand people having a bad day but my experiences have all been the same with no exception! All I can say is that the 5 star reviews that mention the "friendliness" must be posted by friends or family members!

I was very pleased with my visit to Scott Vet clinic. Dr. Johnson was very personable and attentive to my cats' problem. He caught her up on her shots and scheduled a surgery. Since I had not gotten routine shots for Carolina, she was very lethargic and would not eat and she was very sore from the shots. I had to cancel surgery but will be rescheduling. The receptionist was awesome also.

Our adopted dog was neutered here. The vet & tech seemed as if they didn’t want to spend time talking to us. We left without a cone because the vet tech told us he would be “totally fine” without one. The dog swelled up so badly and he burst his incision site two days later. We had to take him to an emergency vet to fix the problem because he was bleeding profusely. Turned out he also had a massive infection. It is now two days after the emergency vet visit and he is bleeding again. We are going to another vet tomorrow to get someone we trust to actually take care of our dog. No dog deserves to go through this, but especially not a previously abused, fresh out of the shelter, older dog. He has been in pain for five days. I’ve called and left a voicemail that detailed what was happening, and they haven’t returned my call. Very frustrated and heart broken for this dog.

Great doctor and staff. We will not go anywhere else. Dr. Scott helped my very sick rescue kitty get well, it took several months with antibiotics and steroids but now she doesn't even look like the same cat. I will be forever grateful. I had been to two different vets before I found Dr. Scott with no real help. My creatures are so lucky to have him.
