How to Save on Veterinary Costs at South Central Veterinary Services
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I should have left this review a long time ago! Greylene and I are so lucky to have such good vets taking care of her. She had 2 growths removed on her stomach months ago. They took really good care of her and I’m shocked by her fast healing. She didn’t like the cone lol but she barely even has a scar, it’s incredible! She also went for a cornea ulcer issue and I was really worried, but they put me at ease and knew exactly what to do. She also just went for flea medication this week. The doctors are smart, talented, and gentle. I’m going to take her back for a dental cleaning soon. The front desk ladies are just as kind and helpful every time we come in. I’m so, so grateful! Thank you! Highly recommend!

Friendly, considerate, and caring to my pups. Oh, and to me too! ...the benches fit a 145 lbs. baby too! And not outrageously expensive either.

Although Dr. Walla and Dr. Matthew are great and I don’t doubt their knowledge a bit, I wish they had better techs assisting them. My dog goes to the groomers, dog parks and loves people, she’s never been muzzled before; until her latest visit. The tech took her back to get her weight and I went with her, as I was leading my dog to the scale the tech grabbed the leash close to my 10 pound pup to pull her onto the scale, and when she tried to LICK her, the tech said she snapped at her and she had to be muzzled for the rest of the appointment. I wouldn’t have minded at all if my dog did actually snapped at her as I would absolutely want every one to be safe, but she was not at all aggressive, she’s never been. A few months later, I took my other dog to the them as well. He is a very well socialized pit bull, loves people, goes to the groomers and pet stores; has never showed signs of aggression or been muzzled. When he was being examined, the way the tech was handling him was clearly making him uncomfortable. She was not paying attention to his body language at all. When it got to the ear examination is when Dr Mathew decided it would be best to muzzle him. At that point I also thought it would be best because again, I want everyone to be safe, but it upset me that it got to that point because of their poor handling. My first pup (5 years now) had been going there since her first round of shots, this has never happened until last year. At the vet we them to now, they handle them with much more care, they are 10x sweeter and empathic, and I trust them way more. It really showed the difference and that’s why I had to come back and leave a review.
