How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Pet Western Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

Dr. Talley is wonderful!! You can tell she loves animals. She gets down on their level, looks them in the face, and talks soothingly to them while petting. She explains, listens, and patiently answers questions. Undoubtedly, the best vet I have ever had experience with. If you are questioning who to take your furbabies to, Dr. Talley at Pet Western is da bomb!

We have been looking for a vet I really loved for a couple years now, a few people where I work said to go here and I loved it. Unfortunately it was near my dogs end of life but I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful staff. It was my first time having to put down one of my own but everyone at pet western was great at making me and him feel comfortable. We will be returning with my other dogs.

Best vet and team around. Always listen and care about your and your pups' comfort. In my opinion, very fair rates, especially for a very experienced vet.

Dr. Talley is hands down the best vet! She is so kind and you can tell she truly cares. We have lots of vets in Weatherford but we drive to Mineral Wells because of how much we love Pet Western.
