How to Save Money at Legacy Animal Emergency Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I recently had an unexpected encounter with an injured cat on the road, and I knew I needed to act to get him help. Thankfully, I found Legacy Hospital and rushed the cat to their care. The staffs were incredibly kind and professional, immediately assessing the cat's condition and providing the necessary treatment for his injuries. They kept me updated on his progress and made sure he was comfortable throughout his stay. Thank you to the entire team at Legacy Animal Emergency for your exceptional care and compassion. I highly recommend this animal hospital to anyone in need of veterinary services for their furry friends.

Thank you for taking care of my sweet Chanel this morning. The staff I encountered with were all very nice and caring. No wait time at all. Plus they gave me some knowledgeable advice for future reference. They are open 24/7 and within the city. The price for our visit was a little steep (for me) but compared to other places it was reasonable.

Where to start? This practice is AMAZING! The office itself is super clean, modern, organized and has comfy seating throughout (huge plus especially when wait times are to be expected). Dr. Blessington is just that, a blessing. She treated our 11yr old pup with compassion and was very thorough with her examination and treatment plan. The staff is just as kind and compassionate as the doctor. I had to leave my baby overnight and I had no doubt he was in great hands. They are upfront about costs and treatment options. The way they treated us upon arrival, through my pups stay and even now a couple days after discharge, made me a lifelong client. I hope we won’t find ourselves needing their services in the future but if we do, I will gladly be back knowing my pup will be cared for! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU ❤️

Legacy emergency vet clinic is a complete joke. The only thing they’re concerned about is the money they’re taking from you and putting in their pockets. It states online that payment plans are an option - clearly the website needs to be updated, as they declined to help my 16 month old pug. They also exaggerated/made up issues that were later found to be non existent after getting not only a second, but third opinion. They stated my pug had a serious lung infection, which was a false diagnosis. I was also told that if I declined medical treatment from them and took my dog home, that she would die later that night. They refused to release her back in to my care until I signed an agreement and paid them $150 It was also said she needed an emergency c-section, costing $6,000+, thankfully my dog gave birth naturally later that evening. With all the lies and misinformation, they should be paying me the $150 and more for the added anxiety they induced on to me during an already stressful event. They’re unreliable, dishonest, greedy, and lack any integrity one would need to be in business as a licensed veterinarian. THEIR MANIPULATION TACTICS TO TRY AND SCARE ME IN TO ACCEPTING/PAYING FOR THEIR UNNECESSARY SERVICES IS A VIOLATION OF THE TRUST HELD BETWEEN DOCTOR AND PATIENT AND SPEAKS VOLUMES ON THE HELP/SERVICES THEY TRY TO BULLY YOU IN TO ACCEPTING. THIS PLACE AND THE PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED. ***DO NOT HESITATE TO GET A SECOND OPINION, OR BETTER, SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF TIME, UNNECESSARY ADDED ON STRESS AND ENERGY AND GO ELSEWHERE!!!!
