How to Save Money at Holliday Pet Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This Place is awesome and the prices are even better. We lived in Holiday some years back and went to here for all our pet needs. Now we live in Burkburnett and will still take the drive to have this vet take care of our babies. We recently found 4 abandoned puppies while out in Longview and we rescue them all taking one our self back home. She needed some help quickly and they help us enormously. Now 3 weeks later and our new family member is doing fantastic, doubling her weight and size. I just can't say enough about how this vet goes out of her way to make sure her patients have a good life. One of our dogs had a strange issue that required a special drug. She got some in just for him.

Treated my dog a couple weeks ago. Very friendly. Didn't solve the problem with his paw after spending a good amount of money. Tried to take him back because he is in worse shape than when they treated him the first time. I asked if there was any kind of payment plan because money Is tight especially after them not helping the paw in any way. Instead of trying to work with me I was turned away. I completely understand business practices are the way they are, but do what you are paid to do. Seems to be a more trial and error type of vet. Sometimes a vet needs to care more about their patients. Don't expect them to help much with it first visit. But expect to pay for alot of meds. .... (response to below).. yes I was told about care credit and the fact that I couldn't speak with you which does speak volumes about how you handle clients and your patients... diagnosis of "it might be" isn't enough to determine an xray. The cost is to high not to try something else first. Pretty simple. Regardless my animals won't be back to you and I hope this review helps someone else make a informed decision. Along with the other 1 stars you have received.

This vet clinic has a lack of empathy for dogs we tried to get established when we first moved here they told us they were no longer taking new patients have had a crisis with a 13 year old lab who has cancer our vet was unreachable today she needed to be put down she could not stand or walk we could not physically put her into our vehicle I literally live two blocks away from this vet clinic I beg them please let me bring her in so you can put her down so she does not have to suffer in pain the response I got well I'm sorry you're not a patient of ours in our vet will not do it no compassion obviously they don't care enough about animals to make sure one did not suffer as I lay here with my dog tonight waiting to get a hold of our vet in the morning watching her breathe heavenly and in pain and yes I did give her some pain medication I do not understand why this woman is even considering herself a vet how's the vet tech for many years and there was never a time that the vet I worked for in lampasas would tell somebody your dog will have to suffer because they're not a patient of mine absolutely ridiculous and appalling that a vet could actually do that
