How to Save Money at Granger Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The only place I trust with my fur babies. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable, the doctor always takes the time to explain things fully to us, and you can’t beat the price. We moved last year and now drive over an hour when our pets need anything because we love it here so much! Highly recommend!

The most outstanding experience I have had at a vets, I made the drive from Georgetown from a recommendation with a sick dog my vet didn't treat correctly. Dr St Peter was extremely professional, ran the needed tests and diagnosed my dog and finally she is on the medicine she needs. All the staff are so friendly, the drive is peaceful and well worth it for the peace of mind knowing my dogs will come first and there is a first class Veterinary Hospital that cares. Thank you, I will be back.

I was refraining from writing a bad review for this place, but today was the final straw. First time I went the ladies at the front desk were gossiping. Second time I went in there and waited an hour without anyone saying anything. I was sitting in the in the lobby directly in front of the desk, so it wasn't as if I wasn't seen. I finally said something and was told they were waiting on me to decide what type of lab work I wanted and that there was a sick dog. I said, "I think it would be up to the vet to determine the labs needed." (The "urgent" dog walked out of another room- not emergent.) I had a UA run on my cat and I asked for it to be sent out for culture since she has CKD and her urine would be dilute. Typically the urine specimen is also looked at under a microscope in office too, but the vet and tech neglected to tell me the device was broken until days later. A normal vet would prescribe an antibiotic based on the type of bacteria seen in office, then change the abt based off the culture if needed. So, my cat was suffering and continued to squat to urinate all weekend. ($500 total for that visit, by the way after abt finally prescribed.) Monday I called again and asked if the vet could please put her on an antibiotic. She said she didnt want to do that in case of antibiotic resistance. I stressed how many was extremely uncomfortable. She finally prescribed an antibiotic. Today I called and asked for more syringes and needles for the fluids I've been giving Penny and notified them that Penny had lost weight and I will no longer be feeding her kidney food because she doesnt want to eat it (its more important that she eats!) asked if she could be placed on a Phosphorus binder based on her labs there 3 months ago. The lady at the front desk called me back and said she wouldn't give the supplies (for fluids that the vet had already prescribed and told me to give 3x/qk ongoing) without lab work. I would not take my cat there again because the vet is negligent (I just called because I wanted my supplies) and the clinic's aim is purely to make money. The vet also does not have sound judgment and is willing to try to cover her butt over caring for a pet. I've had pets for decades (6 currently) and Ive never seen a clinic run in such a greedy and hapless manner. If you have an opportunity to go to another clinic, I highly recommend doing so. To note, Im in the medical field and able to discern good/bad care. I came to edit my review: when the office refused to supply the needed supplies for my cats fluids, I told them I'll just go somewhere else. I just noticed today when I was forwarding her records to a new vet that the front desk added a letter that they won't see my cat again, sent right after I got off the phone saying I'd go to another vet. All I can say is, thank you very much and this looks ugly on you. My only concern is the animals that go in there. Very sad.

Best vet around, truly! They caught an issue with our dogs eye and when we took her to a specialist the vet there was amazed they caught it. Your pets are in great hands here.
