How to Save Money at Fulshear Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

DR. Baird and her staff is amazing. We had to put our precious cat down because of cancer and they were so kind to us. She is a knowledgeable vet and we trust her with our pets.

I was taking my cats to this place for the past few years. Last month I was trying to call to make an appointment. I called 6 times in 10 days , and any time I call, they will just put me on hold for 10-15 minutes, and I am not able to spend so much time on hold because I am at work, so at end of wait I had to hang up. The last time I called and I got the same response, I just told the girl, please don't put me on hold, I just need to make an appointment for the cats anual check up. It took her 1 minute to do it! So I finally got the appointment and when I walked in that day, there were 3 women working at the front desk - one of them was filing her nails, one was running around with the credit card around trying to do some online shopping - no wonder they cannot take the calls or put people on hold while they are busy doing their personal stuff. I was the only person in the waiting room and they told me they will call me in as soon as one of the rooms is free. I was there 15 minutes earlier before the appointment time, so I was not late. One of the rooms got free, but in the meantime the lady with the dog came in and she was walked straight in the room. It didn't seem to be an emergency, they were laughing and having some fun in that room. I am sitting in the waiting room for 20 minutes now. Soon both rooms were free and I am still waiting another 10 minutes. At this time 2 more people with the dogs are waiting in the lobby. They finally decided to bring me with my cats to one of the rooms, and the other lady to the other room. Of course, the doctor went to see that person and her dog first, while I was waiting another 15 minutes in the room. While I was walking out to my car, the 3rd person with the dog was walking out already too. I was there before all the 3 ladies, but they were all seen before me! I find this very disrespectful and unprofessional and I am definitely not going back!

Dr. Baird and her staff are so wonderful and caring. My sweet cat Pepper was very very sick and they all treated him as if he was their own. Dr. Baird personally called me multiple times to give me updates and get my consent for anything. She was very honest, transparent, and kind. The staff sent some photos of Pepper to me by email so my kids could get an update. Unfortunately Pepper did not make it; we made the extremely difficult decision with Dr. Baird’s guidance to put him down. She was so empathetic and did not rush our decision at all. I appreciate her and her staff so much. We will continue to come to Fulshear Animal Hospital for the care of our other cat, Mint. I can’t recommend them enough. We will miss you so much Pepper.

Love the doctor and the whole staff!! Took my oldest rescue dog and puppy here and they are always taking such good care of my fur babies. They answer all my questions and concerns and always put me at ease. Had an emergency with my puppy who had fluid in his neck and everyone did amazing and worked me in to see him. My dogs are also not big fans of other dogs and the staff always helps me bring them in when the room is ready and checkout is a breeze to take the dogs out to the car since i pay while they are getting checked. Dr.Baird is the sweetest doctor and loves my boys like I do. Unfortunately we moved out of the area so it’s over 2 hours to take them but I always refer all my friends and family with fur babies to this office. River and Beau will miss this office just as much as I will!
