How to Save Money at MedVet Frisco
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Words cannot express how deeply indebted we are to MedVet Frisco. Last week we brought in our 5-month-old precious Goldendoodle puppy. She had been under observation at an urgent care vet in North Dallas all day, but when we went to pick her up, they advised us to return in the morning for surgery. She had swallowed a sock and had a complete bowel obstruction. When we looked at the x-ray from earlier Sunday compared to the x-ray at the time of discharge, the distended loops of bowel were markedly worse. She was regurgitating constantly and truly on the border of lethargy. We took her to MedVet Dallas. Gray, the gentleman who triaged her, was very upfront about the fact that the surgeon at the Dallas location had three imminent surgeries overnight (prior to us) and our puppy would be delayed until the morning. He also did not recommend that we wait, and thus he called MedVet Frisco who was able to potentially operate expeditiously. We were very appreciative of his efforts at being transparent and communicative. We followed the advice and took her to MedVet Frisco. Dr. Triplett operated on her within two hours of arrival (Enterotomy) and was very informative during the entire process. I credit her with saving Charlie Belle’s life. She is clearly a highly skilled surgeon and very attentive to detail. She kept us updated through the whole night and again the following night when she returned for overnight shift. Dr Herrejon called me at least two times during day shift and did such an amazing job handling some post-operative changes/findings. She was also very astute and highly skilled. Both vets had such amazing bedside manner with fur mom and dad. Dr Gibbs then cared for Charlie prior to her discharge on day #3 and also, took excellent care of her. I would be remiss, however, if I did not thank the incredible veterinary technicians that participated in Charlie’s care. Thank you to Jordan, Libby, Jenna, Francesca, and Erin (provided amazing discharge instructions also). Without your bedside care and attention to acute changes in status, we might not have Charlie Belle. You are all truly angels. We have been through tremendous human loss in the last three months, accompanied by the death of our Golden secondary to cancer. Charlie Belle is more than just a puppy. She represents hope and optimism for a new beginning. Sometimes when you save a dog, you save an entire family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

From the minute we walked in, we were given excellent care. Brady was treated promptly and with urgency. The vet and techs displayed compassionate care and treated Brady like he was their own. I received multiple phone calls from the vets throughout his stay and even some texts from the techs updating me in his condition. They communicated everything in a way we could understand and took their time in letting me come up with questions. I’m so happy we found this emergency vet. If anything comes up with our dog again, we’re taking him back here without hesitation.

Although the circumstances that brought us to MedVet were unfortunate, we were in excellent hands here. The facility was welcoming and clean, and all the staff we talked to were so kind and friendly! We were put at ease with our cat's condition and she was treated quickly and effectively. I feel a lot better knowing this facility is nearby and open 24/7 in case anything else ever happens. Thank you, MedVet. Our sweet kitty feels a lot better now!

My dog had a seizure in the middle of the night out of nowhere (first one ever) and I rushed to find an emergency vet nearby, unfortunately the closest 24hr one to me said they were not currently accepting new patients, luckily however, MedVet Frisco was the second one I called and they were a Godsend. Not only were they available and open, the receptionist was very calming and informative on what to do and the process. I rushed my dog to the location and was warmly greeted at the door. Everything was explained very well, from recommendations and options to pricing, before anything was done. This let me make the best decisions possibly while still understanding the costs associated. Many vets tend to get your okay on services without mentioning prices, knowing that in that moment most people aren't going to ask about that, but everyone here was upfront and let me know there were multiple options available and the costs for everything. Aside from that, the care was top-notch. My dog is skittish around new people and especially in a situation like this I expected her to be terrified, but when they brought her back to the waiting room she didn't want to leave her tech! They are pet people themselves and that is obvious. Their demeanor and clear true caring nature helped keep me calm as well. The services were thorough and very affordable with multiple payments options available. Everything was better than expected, I hope no one ever NEEDS to come here, but if you do need an emergency vet I would highly recommend MedVet Frisco, the aftercare has been incredibly above and beyond as well. Cannot rate highly enough. A+++

We had a remarkably great experience with MedVet of Frisco. After our senior dog injured his eye, our normal ER vet had a 5 hour wait. They suggested we head to nearby MedVet. They were incredibly professional, caring and efficient. The facility was spotless and equipped to handle anything. The people were absolutely wonderful. I could not ask for better treatment for either our pet or for ourselves .
