How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Veterinary Internal Medicine & Diagnostic Center

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Where to begin…Dr Owen’s and his staff are wonderful, knowledgeable, and compassionate. His bedside manner was very comforting during the sad news we received about our dog’s condition. Dr. Owen’s was very good at weighing the pros/cons of the procedure being done as I was unsure about how to proceed. He was able to aspirate a large tumor found on our boy’s lung via ultrasound. Although he had to wait for cytology to come back to confirm it was cancer, he knew it was cancer..and was pretty sure which one it was (speaks volumes to his knowledge). Unfortunately, our boy lost his fight to cancer shortly after. In our hearts we knew it was time, but wanted the medical reassurance. Thank you Doctor Owen’s and staff for giving us the reassurance, and treating our boy with all the love.

My cat Carlie went to the hospital 3 weeks ago and surely she was in a serious health condition. She was transferred to Dr Owens and his team and they went into action. Dr Owens gave us the lay of the land, the what is and the what could be--very open, very honest. Our girl had a feeding tube put in and we began a tough course to save her. But not without constant calls and conversations with Dr. Owens and his staff. Almost daily. The team was patient and gracious with us. I could say so much more about their role in Carlie's recovery. Dr Owens and team were beyond outstanding. Special mention to Emma, who showed my wife and I so much compassion and care. Who made us feel calm and who loved on Carlie as if Carlie was her own. We love you guys for what you do and how much you care about these furry creatures we love so much!

As an English bulldog momma the vet you choose is so important. My babes need care and most places just see money bags. Dr.Owens is incredible! We’re so lucky to have found him. And his staff is the absolute best. It’s gonna be hard to ever trust anyone else with surgery on my girl. They are THE BEST ❤️

My cat recently spent the weekend at Hill Country Emergency Vet and at the end of the weekend, he was transferred over to the care of Dr. Owens. Dr. Owens called me after his initial assessment and recommended multiple diagnostic tests to get to the bottom of my cat's medical issues. He was very thorough and was able to identify multiple health concerns. My cat stayed with Dr. Owens and his team the entire day then was released to me for home care. During the week, I had follow up visits as my cat continued to get worse. Doc didn't let me give up on my cat though when I told him I felt it was time to say good bye. He told me to stay the course just a couple more days. He also prayed with me which brought me comfort during this time. Thankfully, my cat did turn the corner and we didn't have to euthanize him. He still has a long recovery road ahead of him but I am forever grateful to Dr. Owens and his team for their superior expertise and compassion. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a specialist and he will continue to care for my cat while we face this recovery.

We’ve been going through an incredibly difficult time with our dog’s health, and I can honestly say that Dr. Owens and his staff have been a true blessing during this journey. From day one, he has gone above and beyond not just with his medical expertise, but with his compassion and support. He takes the time to explain everything thoroughly, no matter how many questions we have, and always makes sure we feel heard and understood. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, but also kind, patient, and genuinely invested in our dog’s well-being. Which means the world to us during such a stressful time. It’s rare to find someone who combines professionalism, empathy, and dedication so seamlessly. We are so grateful to have him and his team on our side and can’t thank him enough for all he’s done for us and our pup!
