How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Far West Veterinary Clinic
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I cannot explain how wonderful it has been to have far west to support my pup and me! I have a dachshund with early onset arthritis and sadly a couple of injuries to her neck and hips and Far West has been a god send in helping find the perfect treatment plan to keep my kiddo happy healthy and thriving! Having a dog experience pain and going in for treatments can be hard on her as it can be stressful but we love how compassionate and caring every team member we meet is to my little one and we are so lucky to have them on our team! Thanks for helping keep this pup happy and comfy!

We love Dr. Baker so much, we still come to see her after we moved to Round Rock. Don’t get me wrong, I have had positive experiences with every vet we schedule with, but Dr. Baker is the only vet to understand my dog’s severe skin allergies/infections and treat them effectively after 5 years of searching and trying things. I only wish we had met her sooner! She helps me build treatment plans that fit into my budget, she manages my expectations well, and my big boy is a totally different guy now that he isn’t miserable all the time. I feel like we finally get to be together and be happy. I have been to a lot of vet offices and this is the only one that I have walked away from feeling like I had not been judged for needing budget options or for how sick my dog looked. They just help. Thank you to all the vets and staff!!

Follow up on review below--Dr. Baker called me to apologize on behalf of the staff. The situation was discussed with them and how they can be emphatic with those that have recently lost a beloved pet. I appreciated the follow-up. ----------------------------------- We follow Dr. Stephanie Baker whenever she changes vet practices. Dr. Baker provided our sweet tuxedo cat, Oliver, with excellent care since 2018. He had multiple diseases and visited the vet quite often the last year and half of his life. She was always kind and gave Oliver extra care since he very uneasy at the vet. I would highly recommend Dr. Baker as an excellent cat vet (I'm sure dogs too but can only speak to my experience with my cat). While she doesn't sugar coat situations (which I appreciate and prefer), she delivers options and thoughts with compassion. Regarding Far West, the facilities are nice, and the staff had previously always been responsive and helpful. Oliver required a lot medications the last year of his life and they worked with me on coordinating his prescriptions. They also helped me get a letter for my place of employment explaining that Oliver required medication 5 times a day and that by requiring me to return to office, his care would be severely compromised. All of that being said, I'm providing 4 stars instead of 5 because of the staff's (not Dr. Baker), complete lack of compassion at the passing of our beloved 15 year-old Oliver. When it was time, we used Lap of Love, for a home passing and Oliver's ashes had to be delivered to a vet's office for pickup. When I called Far West to let them know that Oliver's remains would be returned to them, the staff that answered the phone was very bubbly in her response to me which I found very odd. There was no offering of condolences, no simple, I'm sorry for your loss, nothing. I chalked it up to my state of mind at the time. When I went to pick up Oliver's remains from Far West, there were 3 staff chatting at the front desk. I told them why I was there and again, nothing. While one person went to retrieve the ashes from the back, the other two continued their conversation as if I was not there. She handed me the bag with the urn with a simple, "here you go." I realize that if you work in a vet's office you are used to pets dying and people picking up their ashes and maybe you have to become somewhat hardened to that reality as self preservation, but that does not mean you should loose your empathy for people who have recently lost a very cherished member of their family. I wasn't expecting much, but a simple "I'm sorry for your loss." or some kind of acknowledgement. When I sent an email regarding Oliver, someone did respond in email with an "I'm sorry" but the phone and in person interactions were so jarring to me and did not match the previous interactions I had with the staff.

If your pet has an abusive past, do not take them here! My dog was dragged by his neck with slip leash by a vet tech. No acknowledgement from anyone. I brought him in the room to the door when the dude said he is going back. He proceeded to take my dog by the neck to the SAME ROOM I had just brought him to. Maybe it you see a pet having issues trusting a burly looking guy, offer to have a different tech or reschedule the appointment.

I cannot recommend the team at Far west vet ENOUGH I was 9000 miles away and multiple time zones away on a work trip and The family dog had his first seizure. The care they gave to him the support they gave to my daughter as she tried to navigate it while she was scared and stressed – – they are amazing
