How to Save Money at Crestview Veterinary Clinic at Tech Ridge

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I’m very protective of my dog Hercules and the entire staff made me feel so at ease, especially after asking so many questions. Dr. Brennan did a great job fixing my boy’s smile. He needed two extractions and a deep clean. Dr. Brennan is very genuine, professional, and knowledgeable and respected my preferences. I lean more on the holistic side of things, but with the help of her recommendations, we met in the middle. Anesthesia scares me but I’m taking Hercules’ post-op care very serious with homemade meals, probiotics, vitamins, herbs, and of course his prescribed medication. He’s been recovering beautifully. He’s one happy and healthy guy! I need him with me for a long time ☺️ Thank you Crestview for your nurturing nature! We will be back! 🫶 God bless you all!!

This has been the best office I’ve brought my pets to in Austin! Every time we visit they treat my pets with patience and are highly professional. The techs and doctors love animals and people. I was emotional the last time I came in because my pitbull is getting older and Dr. Squires listened, validated all my worries and gave me the support I was looking for. We love bringing our animal here!

I’ve been coming here for about a year now with my first personal puppy and this team has gone above and beyond to make sure he is happy and healthy! I truly cannot say enough good things about this team from Brenda holding the fort down with a smile at the front desk, all of the lovely vet techs that go out of their way to make it a great experience and especially Dr Brennan who has help us with fleas, heartworms and neutering on top of the basics like making sure he’s on the best diet possible and getting his necessary medications! This one of a kind team has made my dog excited for vet visits and makes sure we are always well educated and equipped for whatever comes our way! Having a vet that cares so much for your pet and you know you can trust has made pet-parenting so much easier and I recommend this place to everyone I know with a pet

Absolutely thrilled to have found Crestview Veterinary Clinic at Tech Ridge! Being new to the state, choosing a vet was already a challenge—but finding one who could care for three blind cats? That felt nearly impossible. Thankfully, a friend recommended Crestview, and I couldn’t be more grateful! Right off the bat, the experience was great: a free first visit for one of my cats AND a $50 referral credit from my friend? Yes, please! 😻🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛ From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly kind, gentle, and compassionate. The vet tech who assisted us was truly a master—handling one of my most high-stress cats during a blood draw with such calm and confidence, it honestly amazed me. Dr. Lindsay Squires was equally impressive. She took her time with each cat, doing a thorough exam from the tip of their ears to the bottom of their tiny toe beans. Her care and attention to detail were both reassuring and refreshing. If you're looking for a clinic that treats both you and your pets like family, Crestview Veterinary Clinic at Tech Ridge is the place. I feel so much more at ease knowing my cats are in such capable and compassionate hands. Highly, highly recommend!
