How to Save Money at Smoky Mountain Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I brought my 11 week old puppy Magnus in for his very first vet visit for vaccines and general assessment. The staff was AMAZING and extremely welcoming. They were informative and catered to any questions that I had. Doctor Armstrong and the other tech were very gentle with him and provided a free nail trimming as courtesy. They gave clear instructions for the at-home care and medications that were sent home with us and were extremely thorough. I highly recommend this clinic for any of your furry friends needs! Thank you to Doctor Armstrong and all of the staff! Looking forward to our next visit!

We finally found a veterinarian and staff who genuinely care about their patients and their owners. We are never rushed to get in and out. Their communications skills are above any of the other 2 vet's that we had used in Seymour. Besides routine check-ups, Jazzy has had a surgery along with complete oral/teeth cleaning, and currently being treated for an eye infection. I'm so pleased that they are detailed oriented and along with written instructions and verbal instructions , we leave with confidence that we know exactly what to do for a quick and speedy recovery. There is never any surprises and are very fair with pricing. Not only do they give and provide excellent care and service, the staff up front will even let the owner have a quick therapy session. As one might see from this lengthy review, that's not such a quick session with me. Lol! So to all of you, Thank you for everything, Michael and Jazzy Bear King.

I cannot recommend this vet office enough. I had gotten my dog Willard from the shelter a little over a year ago.I didn’t know any vets around here as I recently moved here. The shelter neutered him and he got very sick after. We made a vet appointment but they recommended we talk to the shelter first to save us money. We weren’t even a client yet and they went above and beyond for us. A few months after this happened he developed really bad separation anxiety. He also would have random acts of aggression when he was facing something new. I made an appointment with this clinic for the first time because if how kind they were when we called for the first time. They vet techs/ assistants were so patient with him and so was the vet. They didn’t muzzle him for his check up immediately but rather wrapped him like a burrito haha. Which worked perfectly. He was prescribed medication for his anxiety and he is doing so much better now. I had a recent appointment with them because he was suddenly very lethargic and his eyes were super red. The vet tech that was with him was so patient and worked so well with him. I wish I knew her name so I could thank her and shout her out because my dog absolutely loved her. He gets nervous around new people and he was more anxious than usual that day because his eyes were bothering him but she knew exactly how to handle him. He even let her pet him which he usually doesn’t do and I think it was because just how great she was with him. He had to get a few tests done for his eyes and they ended up taking him for a small walk to help him relax and give him a break from getting his check up. They eventually figured out the problem and we are getting his prescription soon. He needed to get a refill for his anxiety meds, a few vaccines, a heart worm test, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention, a checkup and tests for his eye issues. All of this was so reasonably priced I was shocked at how fair the cost of all of this was. I genuinely can not recommend this vet enough. If I ever get another pet I wouldn’t hesitate to bring them here. They always are so kind and patient. Thank you smoky mountain animal clinic team from me and Willard!

I’ve been using SMAC for a long time. They provided such good care for my elderly dachshund Wendy who passed away in 2021. We now have Jack, who is very anxious, but everyone is so kind and patient with him and he does fine with everyone. Both vets are great but Dr Hill has been wonderful helping to treat Jacks skin allergies. Very patient, sweet and knowledgeable.

The best vet! My dog is very difficult at vet visits but Smoky Mountain Animal Clinic is always able to see her and they are even able to trim her nails. The pricing is also reasonable especially for the service they provide. I would highly recommend them!
