How to Save Money at Veterinary Associates of Murfreesboro

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This was my First Time bringing my personal dog as a patient. I called our regular Veterinary Clinic and they didn’t have any openings. Since I know two friends that use this Vet and the fact I took one of their pets in for a teeth cleaning I knew somewhat what to expect. When I picked up my friends dog after the cleaning it was an overall good experience. Yesterday, was more of a concerned/pain visit for my little guy🥲 I have to say I was very pleased with Doctor Beasley. She did the most thorough exam I have ever seen on my Fur baby! She used a muzzle since he was in pain as a precaution. That was a first too. But it enabled her to complete his exam. I was also pleased with the medications given and sent home. I will certainly return here again! He is still limping but have only given his morning dose of meds so far. Praying these meds and rest are the key to helping him feel better! Just like your personal doctor reminders may be necessary especially since they are doing a lot we can’t see. Like getting medications prepared. The Tech was very nice as well and did a great job! She and Dr. Beasley work well together and are very loving to your Fur baby! The Exam Room we were in is typically used for clients with more than one pet and larger pets. The other rooms are more typical being half the size. I highly recommend this office for their Front of house and Back Excellent Service! Thank You Staff for helping ease this Fur baby Mama’s mind!❤️

Very friendly place. They really care about their patients and the fur parents 😊. My dogs loved it here. Normally they have anxiety going to any vet office but here my dogs felt at ease.

I love Dr. Morgan and his team. When our Bozley was going through congestive heart failure, Dr. Morgan was empathetic, but he was very focused on what was best for Bozley and helping him be as comfortable and happy with a quality life until the end.

We loved Dr. Morgan, he was patient, knowledgeable and didn't rush us, he genuinely cares for each fur patient! He was great with our Lady, as she doesn't care for men or the vet, for that matter. We have finally found our home vet after more than 2 years of trying different locations. Thank you, Veterinary Associates!

Where I am from, loyality and trust mean a lot. I started going here when I first got my puppy. We came regularly. We never missed appointments. We always paid in full and never had to be hunted down for missed payments. So when my fur baby got ill and unexpected expenses raised, I did what I had to do and got it paid. I called a couple of days later to receive lab results. After hanging up, the phone rings again and I was told that there was a lab charge due. At the time, I was in the middle of a family emergency. I asked if I could be billed or pay it when I get back in town. I was given an excuse and told NO. I was offended and shocked. I have poured hundreds into this business the last 2 years without hesitation and now you tripping over $73 dollars. I'm done!! Oh, I paid it that day since it was a big deal to them. Just in case you were wondering, I won't be back. I don't want to do business anywhere I am not valued and appreciated.
