How to Save Money at Coffee Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

On Thursday 6/13/2024 I had to drop off .y 2 yesr old dog to be seen in between appts. He had been throwing up all the day before and stopped eating. They did bloodworm and an exam and determined that he was just backed up. So we got meds to help use the bathroom and was told his bloodworm was normal and was sent home. As the night progressed he got worse and I could tell he was in pain. Still not eating or drinking or using bathroom at this point as well. Now Friday 6/14/2024 I went up to rhe clinic first thing and asked for x-rays, which I am still unsure why this wasn't done the day prior but I was trusting the experience of the Dr. I was then told his x-rays showed gas build up and possible obstruction but wasn't sure and Dr suggested to be put on fluids to see if it would move bowels along and keep hydrated. I was also informed they wouldn't even be able to do surgery if it was needed nor their sister clinic. So between both days I spent over $500 to be told to go elsewhere basically and still no definitive answer for my dog when I had stressed possible obstruction. Very disappointed with the care ny dog recieved and then not willing to even fix him. This was not Dr Hoover by the way. If this is how clients are treated I will be taking my business elsewhere. I did end up finding a vet and surgery was needed cause he did indeed have an obstruction.

Dear friends and fellow dog lovers, It breaks my heart to write this post, but I feel it's important to share my experience and warn others about the lack of care and communication I received from Dr. Hoover at Coffee Veterinary Hospital in Manchester TN. My beloved Blanca has been struggling with a health issue for the past few months, and despite spending close to $1,000 at this vet, I have yet to receive any answers or support from Dr. Hoover. I've begged him to call me and help me understand her condition, but he has ignored my pleas and left me feeling helpless and alone. To make matters worse, he charged me for tests last week that he wants to repeat again, without ever speaking to me once. It's clear to me that he is more interested in taking my money than in providing quality care for my furry family member. If you love your pet as much as I love mine, please heed my warning and go somewhere else. Don't let Dr. Hoover's lack of compassion and communication cause unnecessary stress and financial burden on you and your furry friend. I'm heartbroken that I had to learn this lesson the hard way, but I hope my experience can save others from the same pain and frustration. Please share this post and help spread the word. Our pets deserve the best care possible, and it's up to us to make sure they receive it.

I have been rescuing dogs most of my life. When I moved from San Antonio TX with 8 rescues, I came to Coffee County Veterinary Hospital and was treated with kindness and immense support of all my animals. Yesterday, Dr. Hoover had to put down my dachshund of 19 years of age - as he has done with many of my aging rescues. He did so even though he was feeling extremely ill and had to be seen for his own illness. He returned to help my dachshund get permanent relief from her aging conditions. I cannot say enough about Dr. Hoover and all his staff for their understanding, their generosity, and all their support toward my family of animals. Thank you all for taking such great care of us during a most difficult time. God Bless Each of You! Dr. Amanda Flagg and Carl Flagg
