How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Banfield Pet Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

They are informative and helpful. And they are so sweet to my very nervous puppy every time we come in there. They even offer "happy visits". Just so he can come in to get loved on to make going to the vet a good and happy place.

Great service and great care. They’re really passionate about helping pets. However, the majority of the appointments are drop offs, which is not ideal as a pet owner. When you are able to get an in person appointment, you can expect to waste a lot of time due to how slow they are.

It was really busy this morning and my dog was anxious. Shaking, scared, getting overwhelmed and reactive toward the other dogs. Dr. Vasicek and Kayla (I forget if that’s the correct name, forgive me) went outside in the parking lot and gave Moo his allergy shot in my car so that he wouldn’t freak out. This was incredibly kind, they went above and beyond, thank you.

I've taken my dog there twice, and I wont be going back. The first visit cost us $500 total, and then today the vet indicated that the drugs they'd prescribed weren't even working for my dog. They don't let you go back with your dog, so as we sat in the waiting room, we could distinctly hear our dog screaming. On top of that, my dog looked normal when she went in, but when she came out her left ear was literally on the side of her head and she kept shaking it and scratching it. We went in for routine booster vaccines, so we brought this up when the Vet came out. At first she denied that anything was amiss, but as she watched our dog scratch and shake her ear, she then offered to look at her ears again, because the dogs behavior was not normal. We'll be taking her somewhere else. Both times we've been there, we've been sketched out.

What a great place, I was helped by Morgan who did a fantastic job explaining pricing and the associated services. Everything was done in a timely manner and the vet tech staff are great with helping me understand how to take care of my pets.
