How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Lake Area Veterinary Clinic

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

We take our dog and 2 cats here and have for years. They always treat us like family and are very gracious with our fur babies.

Becky has always been amazing with my pets I’ve taken here. The staff is welcoming and caring. The vet does a great job at explaining everything and very thorough. I appreciate you all very much!

Lisa and Terry are so reassuring and positively the most helpful veterinary staff I have had the experience of working with since the good old days with Dr Ralph Malnou and staff at Countryside Vets. In MN.

Overall we had a very negative experience. The staff was very short tempered and rude. One of the front desk staff members didn’t ask for breed types of our girls and when I corrected her she gave me attitude and didn’t change the breed to what I informed her they were. The vet ignored our concerns of one of our puppies - didn’t look her over or look at the rash or further ask any questions to determine what the issue could be, just chalked it up to her dog food and called it a day. After speaking with a local dog trainer yesterday she pointed out different signs that were concerning her of a bacterial infection. (Her stools, her fur, watery eyes and rash on her belly that we tried getting the vet to look at) After taking her to a different vet they confirmed a bacterial infection is present. The staff members acted as though we were “helicopter” dog owners vs our concerns being legit which has led to two more weeks of our dog being ill that could’ve been caught had we been listened to.

They explain things very clearly so that I could understand the care my dog needed. It was also very affordable for such a big surgery that other vets quoted at a much higher price. My dog feels comfortable with them more than any other place I’ve taken her in the past 6 years.
