How to Save Money at Foxbank Veterinary Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Foxbank Veterinary Hospital is the best vet I have been to for my Guinea pigs. One of my piggies named Blush was diagnosed with a bladder stone and it’s all thanks to Dr. Han and the amazing staff that my pig is now on the road to recovery. Dr. Han was very thorough with making sure all my questions were answered and making sure me and my pig were comfortable. The day after surgery she called twice to make sure everything was going good post-opt and was always there if I had any questions. Her spirit and reassurance meant so much. From me and Blush, thank you.

I had an emergency this morning with one of my dogs and took her to my vets office that we had been going to for many years. When I got there I was told they could not see her due to staff shortages and turned us away. I called and talked to the staff at Foxbank after getting a recommendation from my neighbor and they worked her in this morning. Thank you to all of the staff this morning, you were great. The staff was very caring and understanding when we had to make the heart wrenching decision to put our dog of 11 years down after finding a mass on his lung, making it difficult for him to breathe. They allowed us as much time as we needed and showed so much sympathy and care. The staff truly has a passion for animals and I completely trust them with the care of our furbabies.

Extremely happy with the care our that we have received for our 3 pups. Dr. Parsons and our Vet Tech Lauren, from the start helped us with our dachshund, who injured her back on our move. The appointment with our doxie went so well, we then scheduled all 3 of our pups in for a much needed dental cleaning. The communication from Dr. Parsons both pre-surgery and throughout the process was phenomenal. Dr. Parsons really helped put us at ease with her timely updates. We really felt that our babies were well cared for by everyone at FoxBank Veterinary Hospital. The doggies breath and teeth are SO MUCH BETTER. The doggies got their nails trimmed while they were under, free of charge. We also like that they offer a military discount, which has also been so nice. They even sent us a welcome card individually signed by everyone in the office. I’d like to also mention all costs were well explained prior to care to ensure no surprises. They at no time ever tried to force tests or run up unnecessary expenses. I can’t say enough good things about FoxBank Veterinary Hospital. If you are looking for your pet to receive the very best care possible with highly skilled professionals, then give them a call. 🐾💗

Great veterinary care for your furry family members. I take my German Shepherd there for any of her veterinary needs. Although my dog is very shy and doesnt trust most males, the staff is accommodating and friendly to her needs. My pup has only been attended to by female staff (I don't know if there is any male staff or not.) Prices are reasonable, the office is clean & recently constructed/remodeled. If you have an animal in your family that needs veterinary care, I highly recommend taking them to Foxbank!
