How to Save Money at Avets
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

A little expensive. But the staff was very extremely sweet. Helped us through a really hard ordeal. They did not ask me a single penny till after the whole ordeal was over so not sure why someone said they want money before anything.? They made sure our sweet baby was comfortable.

Brought my cat here because I thought he may be blocked. As soon as we arrived, he was triaged, had vitals taken, and was assessed with an ultrasound to ensure he was safe to wait in the waiting room. He was then reassessed after a few hours. I unfortunately couldn’t wait the full wait time to have him seen by a vet, but I was put at ease enough to know that was stable enough and that I could monitor him at home until I could get him in to my regular vets office the following day. Everyone was very kind and compassionate.

My wife took our dog here around 9pm because out of nowhere he started yelling when putting weight on his hind leg(s) and or laying down on his side. She waited in the waiting room until 1am (which we get as some more urgent cases take priority), but then according to her the vet only spent about 10 minutes with my dog and said "well he seems to be doing better than when he first got in" (he wasn't) and explained how they were too short handed to do an X-ray or anything and even so she didn't believe it to be a bone issue. She then gave us 4 pain pills to bring home for him. So it was 4 hours of waiting and 10 minutes of an "exam" only for my dog to return home and still be yelping in pain all night and this morning still. So we paid $250 approximately for basically nothing and still have to make an appointment with our regular vet to see if they are willing to help. If youre looking for a 24/7 vet in the area I recommend basically anywhere else

These people truly are evil. All they care about is money. My mom and I waited in their waiting room from 11 pm and didn’t get seen until 8 am. I get that there are some cases that are more urgent than what ours seemed at the time, but these dogs made it out healthy and happy while our pup didn’t make it. I think it is ridiculous to be called an “emergency vet” with one vet on call. Our dog was not eating for days and when she finally got examined, they make it seem like paying the thousands of dollars is the only option. Our pup was declining rapidly and shutting down and her quality of life would not have been improved by the options they claim that would help. It was only about the money. We wanted to run blood work to find out what was wrong and they claimed she needed ultrasounds and other testing. When I had questions the vet basically told me to shut up. When you find out overwhelming results about your dog, obviously you want to ask questions and see what could be the root of the issue. The vet just dismissed me and my mom. Because we were in the office for so long, my mom had to leave for work so I took over waiting to get results of testing. When the vet called me back, she looked at me like I was in the wrong place. I told her that my mom had to leave so I would be taking over and she did not want that to be the case. Keep in mind I am an adult not a child. When we made the decision to put our dog down they didn’t bring our dog back into the room to say my final goodbyes until my payment went through. It is truly heartbreaking to have to write such a bad review because I understand how hard the veterinary field is; however, these people are in it for the wrong reasons. I hope to save someone else’s pet by this review, please consider any other place before this one.

Had to take my 10 year old girl to be put down after weeks of not eating and a general descent into nothingness. After a long day, I finally decided it needed to be done after her final bout of projectile vomitting. Arrived at 11:30, in the room by 12:00PM. They were incredibly quick to take my money before I could even sit down, but took many hours to actually do anything. My poor girl sat on a cold floor for hours, scared, in pain and by the end was actually scared of me. I wanted to put an end to her suffering but instead I made her final moments hell. I just wish they showed more compassion, I was the only person in the waiting room, and she had been prepped and ready to go by the vet tech after 15 or so minutes. Come to find out, they never told me I was supposed to call them when I was ready. Just a horrible horrible experience and I wish I never went there. Thankful for the vet, she was the only redeeming part of this experience. I wish I had my Mochi back.
