How to Save Money at Pets Furst Urgent Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This is my first time having a pet. My American bully Scar came in with obsessive vomiting and Hadn’t made bowel movements ,I Knew something was wrong. I started searching around and I came across Pet first urgent care the moment I walked through the door I was greeted by their amazing staff ! Who took great care of Scar! They fell in love with him treated him like he was their own! They examined him ran labs couldn’t find nothing at that moment . Pet First called following day making sure if any progress has been made and it wasn’t immediately they had me bring him back in ran more test they didn’t give up on my baby boy , They found that he eating something bad and he had to have surgery! I scared but understood what had to be done. I felt safe and reassured that my pet was in the best care ever. It’s been two weeks since Surgery and he’s doing great back to himself! To The Owner Of Pet First urgent care and his medical staff words cannot describe how amazing you guys are! Thank you for saving Scar’s life! I am Deeply grateful 🥹

My rescue pup had stopped eating and was lethargic so we took him to Pet's Furst thinking it was something gastrointestinal. As soon as Dr. Constantino looked at his eyes she said he was very jaundiced and bloodwork revealed off the wall white count and liver function. We did not have the $5,000-$10,000 it would cost to take him the ER for a liver biopsy and ultrasound for a diagnosis, so she treated with him antibiotics and steroids not knowing exactly what was going on but that our precious pup was very sick. Thank God he is responding to the medication and is getting better every day. I can't thank them enough for the compassion, love and care they gave our Mason (and me too).

I woke up this morning to my dog whimpering and yelping in pain. I had no idea what was wrong and my current vet didn't have any appointments available. The cost for the emergency vet always makes me second guess whether he NEEDS to be seen immediately. However, once I realized Pets Furst was now open I immediately loaded him until my car and drove there. The office was clean, welcoming, and calm. The front desk staff was so nice and understanding, especially since I was scared for my little guy. We were seen quickly, and the veterinarian was so kind, so knowledgeable, and so understanding. She gave me options and let me know what costs would be ahead of time, and her personal opinion as a pet owner. I ended up leaving with pain meds but a few hours later my dog was still in pain. I called the office and another medication was prescribed immediately. My dog is now feeling better and I can relax a little. I can not recommend Pets Furst enough. It is convenient and affordable, and your pets will be in excellent hands.

First time visiting this Pets Furst Urgent Care in Langhorne PA. First time walking into here I was taken back by how clean and extremely nice place. They just opened a little over a month ago so everything is brand new and went all out making a beautiful clinic for our pets. The front desk welcomed us greatly and even more for my pup, giving her treats and making a big fuss over her. Took us back in the examination room which was extremely clean and nice also just like the rest of the place. Dr.Jona was very intelligent and extremely down to earth when he spoke to us about my dog. He gave us few options to try to make my pup better. Gave us few options to try without wasting my money or overcharging us. He told us how to exactly care for my dog and even wrote the directions down for the medication he gave us. While we were in waiting room few nurses came in and made sure we were comfortable and also made a fuss over her. It was the most pleasant experience. I would recommend them to anyone without any doubt they will be treated perfectly. I was only in waiting room for 5 minutes while the staff got us moving along. They didn't rush us but made sure we understood everything and to make sure we treat my pup correctly with the medication. Trust me give them a call I swear you won't go anywhere else I promise that. They even gave us a little gift to show they appreciate us

My dog was actively dying & I couldn't get her to the vet before they closed, so her vet recommended Pets Furst. The entire staff was fantastic. She couldn't walk, so they came out in the rain & carried her in. Nothing was rushed &, since they weren't familiar with her cancer journey, they did ask if this was the only option. Unfortunately it was. The last time I brought a dog to a vet for euthanasia services, it was super fast.. sedative, immediately followed by barbiturate OD. The doctor at Pets Furst let us spend as much time with her as we needed after sedation. They waited till we were ready before administering the barbiturate, & she passed quickly & peacefully. They let us take as much time as we needed to say our final goodbyes to a very special dog. The doctors & techs were beyond empathetic. They gave us a sympathy card signed by everyone in the office. The card contained a heart shaped cloth holding wildflower seeds to plant in memorial. They offer cremation services & I have yet to see the boxes they use, but I'm sure they're lovely. They're also doing a paw print shadow box. This dog was treated with so much dignity & respect. I've sat with many dogs during euthanasia & this place is definitely the best. They were so kind & understanding. They understand & respect the familial bond between a person & their pet. I'm so glad she wound up here. 10/10, would absolutely utilize their services again. Edit- the office visit + cremation services with box + paw print shadow box was around $430. I believe it was $370 for just the cremains & box. I chose my particular vet because they provide high quality care at affordable rates. Pets Furst was only a little more expensive than what the vet was charging, & her vet does not offer memorial pieces. It's understandable that they have to charge a little more being a small, family owned business, but they make it worth every cent. This was my first time using Pets Furst so I don't know what their regular rates are like, but I'm sure it's more affordable than what most animal ERs cost (an arm & leg.. sometimes a kidney). The family owned aspect makes such a difference. Everyone is seen as an individual. They were so professional & kind to my dog & the rest of the family. Really wonderful people. I can't say enough good about this place & the kind hearted people who keep it running. Thank you for alleviating her suffering. I'm sure she was extremely grateful for the help.
