How to Save Money at All Better Veterinary Hospital PLLC

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We came here with our sick pup, Sadie, recently. I cannot say enough good things about this place and its staff! They gave us a lot of their time, discussed treatments, discussed different pricing and best fit for us. They answered all the questions we had and if they didn’t know it off the top of their head, they found out for us. We felt valued here. We felt our pet was welcomed here. We never felt like they were trying to rush us out the door. Our pet went from being treated like a commodity at the past vet to a loved and welcome pup at this facility. They care! Our pup went from being sick and starting with pneumonia and poor care from past vet to acting way better and happier overnight after this vet’s plan and meds. She’s been improving quickly. She’s bouncing back and playing. More like her normal self. We are so happy and thankful. Rachel and Dr. Grace were both a pleasure to work with for Sadie’s care. This place treats you like family. If you need a new family to lovingly care for your fur babies, this is where you need to go! I highly recommend!

I would not recommend taking your animals to this vet. This is the first vet I have ever been too as this is my first pet. I have taken my puppy here 3 times for his puppy shots. My first visit was fine other than the fact they stuck my dog 3 times before finally being able to successfully give him the shot the 4th time. My second visit it seemed like they didn’t really know what they were doing and didn’t let me know what was being done that day. My third visit the receptionist seemed like she didn’t know what she was doing. The doctor was kinda upset when I said that I had gotten different medication for my dog to take rather than buying it from them because this saves me way more money. They seem unorganized and unprofessional. Someone I know also takes her pets there and has experienced unprofessional behavior from them. As in the office manager lifting his shirt up to wipe sweat off his face in front of her. I was not satisfied with this vet.

Wonderful and Friendly Place, After one of our pets was injured by our larger dog, they were very compassionate and did everything they could to make sure Lola was taken care of. Will definitely be using them for our pets again!

I am so very grateful to the entire staff at All Better Veterinary Hospital! My Maggie went down just before the weekend and I was unable to get an appointment with her vet. I was turned away from another vet because they had staffing issues and were just overwhelmed at the moment. I was up all weekend thinking that my fur baby was going to pass. When I called All Better Veterinary Hospital I felt a huge sense of relief when speaking to Chris on the phone. He was understanding and patient with me. He told me to come right in. From that moment on everyone was sensitive, understanding and concerned about my Maggie and did everything they could to find out what she had going on. They were very thoughtful and thorough in explaining all the examines, charges and results. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone!!
