How to Save Money at Town & Country Animal Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I have three dogs. One of them unfortunately had a heat stroke several months ago. I went here due to it being close to my residence. The staff were very accommodating. The immediately started Care on my male bully. I am glad to say that he is doing very well. We brought his niece due to thinking she's pregnant. They once again were extremely helpful. The staff handles with great care. Very good pricing compared to the other. Vet I had been using. The cost is much less yet service great.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE!!! They withheld records from me claiming they would send them to my new vet, then proceeded to deny the new vet the records I needed for my animal saying that they didn’t have them. Extremely unprofessional place where they thought it was appropriate to hold vet records over a remaining balance on the account that was under my struggling mother who was in out of of hospitals with her health problems and handicapped, needed to pay off before releasing medical records to my sister and I had to call and adress the vet about the situation because it is NOT LEGAL to hold medical records to which she talked around and around explaining how she ‘wasn’t denying anyone records’ but we are welcome to come PAY to have them printed out and we could come get them. Because for some reason fees for ‘printing’ come with records because that’s ever been a thing? Email doesn’t exist and their fax machine is so unreliable? I asked why it can’t be emailed or faxed to which she said ‘well that’s if the scanner works?’ So her solution was in the middle of a medical emergency for our cat, was to drive out there and pick up physical records because somehow they couldn’t email them or fax. At the end she preceded to say the other vet could request them and they would email them because I said in a medical emergency for my animal I NEED those records right now. After which they lied to the other vet and said they have no records of him. All of this for absolutely nothing. This obviously showing why I didn’t continue using their service. Save your time, money, and your pet. Don’t go here.

This is the first time I took my dog Max to this office. He is an older dog with some itching issues. The Dr. and staff here are absolutely phenominal. I wish I would have discovered this office years ago. The pricing here is very affordable and the care is superb. I would recommend this clinic to anyone searching for a veterinarian who cares and a super staff as well. 5 stars aren't enough.

If I could give less than one review I would I had called and spoke with someone was on hold for more than 30 minutes but in that process, I had asked them questions to get my dog treated and she kept putting me on hold and I was able to come in before they closed But the fact that she had me on hold, they wanted me to come after hours so they can charge me for an after hours visit when I was able to be there in less than five minutes exactly. Then when I asked to make it then when I asked to make an appointment for my puppy, she tells me that the vet says no she needs to come in now so they can charge me the fee. They need to be reported to the Better Business Bureau.
