How to Save on Veterinary Costs at River Square Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Friday we noticed our pug was peeing blood. We called around trying to find a vet to get her in right away last minute because our current one was not available. We are so grateful my brother in law recommended them and they didnt hesitate to squeeze her in last minute even though we had never been there before. Everyone was great from the front desk to the vet and vet techs. Very nice place, clean, and affordable. Highly recommend them.

We've been seeing Dr. Lisa for years with 4 different animals, cats and a dog, and she has always been compassionate, helpful, and dedicated to our animals quality of life. I have an elderly cat and she is happy to focus on keeping her comfortable rather than trying to extend her life unnecessarily. The vet assistants are all wonderful. They have no trouble remaining calm with panicking animals and are so gentle. And the receptionist are helpful and will work to squeeze you in for urgent appointments. The only thing I would not recommend them for is specialty care. We had a cat diagnosed with diabetes and despite carefully following the dosing instructions for her insulin the dose itself was far enough off that she went into DKA and needed to be put down soon after. I believe everyone at this office thought they had it under control and were keeping her managed but the emergency vet we eventually saw told us problems like this should be immediately referred out to a specialist. Had we known we would have moved her care. Over all this is a great vets office where I'm happy to bring my animals for routine care and trust they'll be well cared for.

I have been taking my pets to River Square for a few years. The office is clean the staff is kind, friendly and very knowledgeable. I was blow away to receive a phone call from the doctor after having a couple questions. She called me personally to chat about the information I assumed a front desk would have contacted me. The level of customer service exceed my expectations. Happy to call River Square my vet.

I adopted a dog from the APL and only went here because the first visit was free. They were on a list of vets you could go to for your first visit. Big mistake. I have a toy golden doodle and was told by the APL to use a harness or else they will cough with a collar leash. I was in a rush that day and used the collar. So he was coughing a little bit and Dr. Mach decided he had a respiratory infection without doing any test at all even though I explained he usually doesn’t cough with the harness. So at least Dr. Mach could charge me 50 bucks for medication he did not need. I can see why they volunteer themselves to be on that “first visit free” list trying to initially come off like the type that wants to do a favor for a poor rescue.… The trick is to get your foot in the door and then they can wring you dry if you are naive. Dr. Mach wanted to give him vaccinations that the APL charges a small percentage for the same shots. So yeah lol Pass! Upon checkout Christine the shrill receptionist told me that he needed these shots and to get them scheduled, but I told her I’m going to the APL for them because they’re cheaper and exactly the same and I had sensed that I had just been played for the respiratory medication my dog did not need bc I’m not stupid and can see through their business practices. She snapped at me “ok fine go to them.” Christine dear sorry you’re underpaid and your dreams never came true and now you hate your life, but don’t take it out on me. Not sure why you have a receptionist who is supposed to kindly greet people this foul mouthed and bad tempered running your facility but birds of a feather flock together, and if they found a decent person as their receptionist she wouldn’t gel with the rest of the staff if you catch my drift. Take my advice don’t go here. There are money hungry and miserable. Plenty of other veterinarians who are actually in it to care for your precious fur babies and not turning a quick buck and will not direct their misery towards the customer from the unevolved receptionist to the greedy veterinarian who worships Mammon Our pets cannot advocate or defend themselves and that’s where we need to step in between them and predators.
