How to Save Money at Lake Cable Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
We have been taking our fur babies to Lake Cable Animal Hospital for about 5-6 years now, and I can confidently say Dr. Watters is without a doubt the most knowledgeable veterinarian in Stark County. She genuinely cares about her patients, and will do everything in her power to give her patients the best care possible. She is very thorough during her examinations, as well as during conversations. She makes sure to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding your pet. Not only is she kind, she is genuine. Truly. As someone who has been to other veterinarians in Stark Country, Dr. Watters is the only vet I’ve come across who’s top priority is the wellbeing of your pet, and who is as kind as she is. Her staff is incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and supportive. You will always get a call back in a timely fashion if they ever need to speak with Dr. Watters regarding your pet. Ken, the head Veterinary Technician, also deserves high praise. Ken is calm under pressure in high stake situations, and has the knowledge to take the necessary actions in any given scenario. Overall, Dr. Watters and her staff at Lake Cable Animal Hospital are as high class as they come. I can assure you your pets will receive the upmost care in their hands.

I have taken our dogs and cats to Dr. Watters for over 20 years now. Obviously, I think she is a great vet, but not only that, she listens and understands the bond we form with our "kids". The staff has always been wonderful, kind and helpful, the new folks and the folks that have been there awhile. And believe me, with my being in rescue and having a passion for the old and special needs, I do call them a LOT! I have never been turned away or put off even when I know they are swamped. I consider every one there not only a knowledgeable professional, but also a friend.

I have taken every dog I have ever owned to Lake Cable Animal Hospital, and have always been very satisfied with the service I have received. Over the years, they have not only provided preventative care, but have also been there for difficult puppy births, canine lymphoma, and end of life care. They have always been extremely caring and professional, and very honest when discussing even the most difficult topics. I have referred many friends to their office, and will continue to do so.

We have taken our cats to Lake Cable Animal Hospital for over 25 years, and have always been given great service. The staff is very friendly and professional, and have given the cats wonderful treatment (even when one of them acts like a little monster!). Dr. Watters is great -- very compassionate and understanding, always taking time to answer questions or discuss any concerns. They have been there for us in difficult times, such as surgeries and euthanasia, and continue to provide great preventive care. I have referred family and friends to Dr. Watters over the years, and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

I have been taking my own animals to Dr. Watters for over 10 years. We also took our family dogs to Dr. Waters while I was growing up so the total between the two is well over 20 years. She is an extremely thorough, compassionate and knowledgeable veterinarian who provides the best possible care to all pets she treats. She is highly skilled in treating both dogs and cats. I have been through many crisis situations with my pets and Dr. Watters and her staff provide them with excellent care. She always communicates all of the options with me and always has the best interest of the animals at heart. During routine exams she takes extra time and answers all my questions whether behavioral and training, diet related etc. and provides suggestions. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Watters and the wonderful staff at Lake Cable Animal Hospital! I don’t hesitate to recommend them to friends and family.
