How to Save Money at CoTwins Veterinary Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The staff and Doctors are amazing. They have treated my fur babies as if they were their own. We have always gotten the best of care. Not to mention the prices are more reasonable than all other vets offices. Definitely recommend them. Sometimes you will have to wait but that’s only because sometimes emergencies happen and they get a little backed up but they have always made up for it. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication. Lots of love, The Loder babies

Me and my mom both used Cotwins Veterinary clinic for our dogs until the end. They have been SO wonderful - I can’t say enough good things about them. They truly DO care for all the pets who come into the clinic. They treat them as their own. They took care of my dog Ralphie who had to be on the kidney care diet and the prices for the care and food were so affordable - I was able to get some extra time with my 18 year old guy. When I knew it was time he be put down, I took him to the emergency vet clinic in Belden. I didn’t even think to tell Cotwins and I got a card in the mail sending their deepest condolences. He was the sweetest boy in the world and it was so hard to see him suffering and in pain, so I had to put him down. Their thoughtful words were so sweet and not having to tell them he passed made a hard thing easier. I still don’t know how they knew! Cotwins also took care of my mom’s dog who we got when my grandma passed away. Sissy was a dog my grandma got when I was little. I’m now 25 so when my dad said he couldn’t keep her - me and my mom rushed over to Michigan to be able to take care of her in her final years. My grandma battled with her health in the end and couldn’t take care of sissy the way she always had. Cotwins helped us get her situated and her health back on track for the last couple years until she started getting cancerous growths that we couldn’t keep up with. She started to decline and we knew it was time. When it was time, the Doctors and staff at the clinic treated us with respect and dignity. Allowed us to be by sissy’s side the whole time. They allowed my grandmas dog to be put down in a safe, comfortable space with so many people caring for her. I will forever be grateful for the care we’ve gotten for our furry animals. There’s no other vet I would recommend more than this one. If you’re needing a good vet - please take your dogs here. You will not regret it.

Hello, I just wanna say they are awesome!!! They scheduled my four Maltese puppies as new patients within a couple days very fast despite being very busy!!! They are very friendly and seem to generally care about their patients and the prices are so much better than what I was paying before. Highly recommend. I tell everybody about them!!! Definitely two thumbs up!!! Oh, and just to add this, The Puppy Doctors work around the clock It seems. They literally called me late in the evening to address my concerns. (with my permission to call whenever)It was awesome. I’ve never had that level of commitment from a veterinarian!

I’ve taken my dog to the same vet for years so I was little nervous to switch clinics. I’m SO glad I did. Walking in, the atmosphere was a breath of fresh air. You can tell the vets there really love and care for animals. They love their jobs. They were so kind and helpful. If you’re looking for a place that’s going to make you and your pet feel comfortable and really try to help your fur baby, this is it. The prices were good too. Hands down, best vet. Paws down too.

My dog started acting a bit strange over the weekend and I was in a hurry trying to find a new vet near me since my pets current vet passed away and the practice closed. Everywhere I called declined new patients or had told me I could schedule but weeks out. I came to CoTwins and the staff was very kind and got me in same day. When I arrived with him, they were very helpful and did everything they could to find what was going on. The vet and the techs were very knowledgeable and were so helpful and kind. They got him some meds and set me up for a follow up appointment before our initial appointment was even over. I really appreciate the help so last minute and all the kindness not only to my husband and I, but to our dog as well. On top of all of that, they are very affordable! I’ve definitely found a new vet for all my babies! Highly recommend this office!
