How to Save Money at Mission Vet Urgent Care - Blue Ash

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I took my dog in on Saturday, a last-minute appointment and the staff took very good care of my dog. From the front desk to the nurses and doctor, they were very knowledgeable, caring, and I did not feel rushed. Such a great team! Thank you. You’ve made my dog feel so much better and he thanks you as well. Would recommend this facility!!!!

My dog Jasper got stung by something and had a really bad reaction to it. The office took him back right away. And got the reaction under control. They were awesome. So friendly! Jasper is as good as new again! Thanks for taking such good care of him! Here are a before and after picture.

I unexpectedly had to put my much loved pup Dash down after 15 years of him being my best friend. The staff here were exceptional, caring, and compassionate. We arrived and there were no other patients so they brought us right back to a private room for the entire visit so as to respect our grieving. After they gave me a set of his paw prints, nose print, collar, and a small vial of his fur. He was given back to me in a leak proof white bag with his name on it, wrapped in his blanket, and placed carefully in a box. They allowed to exit through the rear and brought him to my truck. Their kindness made a difficult decision and a heart breaking choice just a touch easier. Thank you for your compassion and may you be blessed.

My dog got an unexpected laceration on his side, I contacted my vet and they said unfortunately his cut was too big and he had to go to the emergency vet. I was then recommended Missions Vet Urgent Care from a friend. The incident happened around 1:30 and I was able to schedule him an appointment online for 2:40 pm. When I got there the wait was not long. They gave him a dog bed to lay on in the waiting room and exam room. Every single staff member was so great, not just with my dog but with me! My dog is a rescue who is very anxious and scared, sometimes it’s hard for him to warm up to people, especially in high stress situations. However, he did great when I was in the exam room with him and they all told me how sweet of a boy he was and how he gave them no problems when they took him back for surgery. i think the speaks volumes on how great the staff was for my dog to behave so well with them even though he was scared, they made him feel safe and comfortable. They were upfront with the cost and gave clear aftercare instructions. They even texted me the day after to check in on him which meant so much to me. All emergency vet trips are going to be expensive but it is all worth it when you know your animals are in great hands! 10/10 recommend Missions! Here is a picture of my boy after we got home (we bought the surgery outfit from our local pet store so he doesn’t have to wear the cone 24/7).

This was our first time coming to Mission Vet and it was the best experience we've ever had at a veterinary. They were all very nice and patient with all of our questions, they treated our dogs like their own pets. Our dogs surgery took longer than expected because they made sure they did it the right way even though it lasted after they closed they didn't rush. I can not say enough good things. Thank you so much for helping our babies!
