How to Save on Veterinary Costs at First Avenue Veterinary Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I really appreciate the personal approach and great communication here. They’re very accommodating with last-minute appointments, answering questions, giving advice, etc. I have a long-standing relationship with another larger animal hospital, but changed this to be primary for both of my dogs. I was introduced to them through a rescue organization and was pleasantly surprised by how friendly and knowledgeable the staff and vets are. I’ve taken my dogs for both routine vaccinations and also sick visits. They both received excellent care regardless of the circumstance. Highly recommend ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Bond Vet was too expensive so we took our cat to this more traditional vet place. The vet was attentive but they didn’t end up finding anything wrong with her. I also wished that they could give me a price rundown before running the tests because $450 is a lot for someone like me.

Dr Poller has been taking care of my pets for several years. I have also recently worked with her associate, Dr Temple. They are both great, caring Veterinarians and their staff are always very nice. They were both very responsive when I needed them and they even called in a specialist to consult and do an ultrasound when my dog needed one. The office is always clean and doesn't have that "vet clinic smell." Definitely a great find and great location.

I bring my Cavapoo “Jrue” to First Avenue Vet for all of his shots and also when he isn’t feeling well, since he was 3 months old. I don’t remember a time where I wasn’t greeted with a warm welcome and a smile by the receptionists at the front desk. We never wait long to be seen and the doctors and vet technicians are all so kind, knowledgeable , and understanding to what ever our needs may be during a visit. When Jrue got neutered the surgery went good & so did the healing process, there were no complications. I know that when I am there that Jrue is in good hands and let me just say, Jrue looovveess it there lol. Everyone shows him love and he gets treats every visit. I highly recommend taking your little fur baby to First Avenue Vet.
