How to Save Money at VIP Petcare Wellness Center

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I have always had an excellent experience when bringing my dogs to the VIP pet center in Cicero. The Vet that works there is awesome with the dogs and us straight forward with any issues. Just realize they open at 230pm the tech makes your appt and you have to wait. If you are 2 or 3 in line leave your animal in the car if possible you are in a store so you have to make sure your dog is good around other animals.

I arrived at 5:50 p.m. and went inside the store. Another customer had to tell me that we were to wait outside. I was customer number 2 waiting in line. After standing on the concrete, 3 weeks post ACL reconstruction surgery and my poor dog in the heat on hot concrete, i told the first patron that i was going to the grassy shade w my dog. At 6:45 another customer comes up and is speaking w patron 1. Then the vet techs come out to check us all in, the other 2 point to me. I hobble over. Im less than 40 yards away. Im now told that because i wasnt standing in line, on hot concrete in the sun, they cant do anything about it. What vet would have you make your pet stand on hot concrete, w no water because you MUST be in line but can not be inside the store to wait? I have a photo I took from where I am still waiting to the front of the store. This is ridiculous. I waited 55 min just to be checked in. I was supposed to wait on the hot concrete and have my poor dog stand there? It is currently 7:03 and I'm still waiting as I was told to wait for a phone call before coming in.

I have nothing good to say about my 1st visit to the wellness center . We went for a simple shot and waited over 2 hours to be seen. There was blood on the floor in the store as you waited that hadn't been mopped and the vet techs were messing around laughing and playing peek a boo with the dogs prior to our visit . No one was in any sort of rush while 6 people / dogs wait to be seen and the worker acted like it was a joke . I would have rated a 0 but not an option . I won't be returning and won't recommend to anyone . Your pet would die before someone will see them on a timely manner .

No words really. Cicero location. Poorly run. The vet techs especially supervisor extremely rude!!!!! Waited 2 hours in line. No chairs. We’re told where exactly to stand way on the last isle hidden. Meanwhile people walking in front door getting seen right away. We’re not told about registering ahead of time. Nothing. Supervisor comes over and to us and loudly was the rudest I had ever seen a professional be!! Didn’t get names. But will when I can post again. Don’t go here!!! You will wait hours and in the meantime they’re just talking without any patient in the room. One tech was lol midd as t knocked me over when she tried to purchase something at the register’. I waited hours! Don’t go here. I’m reporting them also

I took my newly adopted puppy to get some vaccinations and a general check up. Dr. Jones and her staff are amazing. You can tell they truly care about the animals they treat. This is my first dog, and they took the time to make sure I understood the vaccine plan options and even compared prices. Rascal was treated gently and quickly with no unnecessary stress. I highly recommend this place to anyone.
